a couple light snow showers in the northeast and back into minneapolis as well, but not really enoughate too many delays. the light snow is mostly lake effect. you know, the lakes never really got too frozen this winter, so we are still seeing that cold air over the relatively warmer lakes, and we are seeing lake-effect snow across new york, across pennsylvania, maybe about an inch to three-inches, especially in the higher elevations. minneapolis shouldn't see too many airport delays, but with some of the icing across southwestern minnesota, we could see some slippery conditions out that way for the morning commute. we are looking at temperatures in the northeast to be about 15 to 20 degrees below average. the warm air's out in the west where temperatures will be about 15 and 20 degrees above average. even billings, montana, today should top out close to 70 degrees, not too bad. 93, though, in phoenix. that's getting a little hot. the northeast will only be in the 30s. tomorrow we're not going to see too many improvements. in fact, only into the mid-40s in the northeast into tomorrow.

winter storm warnings for all of north dakota, parts of minnesota, minneapolis included in winter storm watch. this really starts tonight through tomorrow and then it will slip south and east and here's who is going to be affected for minneapolis that chicago on tuesday. looks like especially the south side of chicago at this point going to get into that snow and then that low just keeps on going across the nation. how much snow are we talking? well, fargo kind of in that high point, 8 to 12 inches. minneapolis at this point looking like a 4 to and chicago into tuesday somewhere south and west could get in that 4 to 8 area too but the low keeps going and it goes all the way through the mid-atlantic states so parts of the carolinas into virginia could get a rain/snow mix then back into the mountains and including a d.c. mix by the way, philadelphia too but back in the mountains that's where you could see a foot or more in parts of virginia and west virginia. much more coming up including the cold in florida but now to bulgari. >> ginger, even though it's march seems like spring is so far

winter storm warnings in pink from fargo to minneapolis to chicago.in the day as head. this is the swath of snow, that area of white, the pink in there is possibility of up to a foot. you notice the bull's-eye there right outside of d.c., especially areas from virginia to the mountains of maryland and also mountains of west virginia. let me break it down for you, show you what we'll be expecting. snow totals, this is for the monday/tuesday time frame. minneapolis, possibility of six to ten inches by tomorrow afternoon. chicago, most of this is during the day on tuesday. it will be over with by about midnight tuesday. so in other words, you're trying to fly out of o'hare tomorrow, it may even be closed for a portion of time. very difficult to get in and out of chicago tomorrow. milwaukee, same thing. and then it moves through the ohio valley with lesser amounts. as far as the east coast goes, the busy worst travel day is wednesday. that's when the heaviest snow and rain will be coming down. a lot of the d.c. airports and baltimore, possibility of even

minneapolis right now current temperature as you head out the door is 9 degrees in the teens in chicago, cleveland. new york city right at the freezing mark at 32 degrees. a little warmer as we head southward like in texas and san antonio. current temperature already at a warm 60 degrees. high temperature this afternoon getting warm into the 80s across parts of texas. 39 would be the high temperature in new york city. you factor in a little bit of a breeze and it will be feeling even colder out there only 25 in the city of minneapolis. these cold temperatures mean that it is cold enough. we have a little bit of snow developed across the new york city area parts of connecticut and further off toward the south across parts of the mid atlantic. we are not expecting much of anything. rhode island and southeastern massachusetts might be a quick burst and 1-2 inches of snow. talking already about spring and we are dealing with flurries flying around and snow showers. 3-5 inches of snow off lake e e erie. we have a brand new storm system watching could be producing accumulating snow in arkansa

take a look at minneapolis. 30 degrees for the high temperature today. it will feel more like january than march. in san antonio you could see record heat 93 degrees for your actual temperature. feeling like summer in texas. that storm we have across portions of the midwest and minnesota. ahead of this system we have rain and snow showers coming down across portions of the mid atlantic and as far west as kentucky, parts of indiana and also illinois. the actual area of low pressure across minnesota and the dakotas we have recorded gusts and a couple of snow will be possible. because of the wind and the snow we have blizzard warnings in effect for today winter storm warnings in effect as well. places like mississippi, alabama, tennessee and even kentucky could be seeing severe weather including things like tornadoes damaging wind gusts and also large hail. be careful out here across portions of the southeast and tennessee and kentucky through out the day today and evening hours for that potential for severe weather. otherwise again the storm system is head

minneapolis, where it's still snowing right now, got 3.9 inches overnight. milwaukee can expect two to five inches. indianapolis looking at three to five inches today. chicago bracing for four to eight inches. some people are saying even more there. this morning we're talking with jennifer delgado, she's live in chicago which is expecting to see the biggest snowfall of the season. shannon travis is in virginia where preps are under way for that storm. karen maginnis is monitoring the storm from the cnn weather center. jennifer, let's begin with you. how's it looking? >> reporter: we're not seeing any snow. i've seen maybe a flurry of two. as we go through the morning, we'll start to see that snow picking up and it's going to be heavy at times. we're talking six to eight inches. some locations potentially ten inch inches. right now we're on the magnificent mile. they're already getting things prepared. cars are moving along nice and smoothly because nothing is on the ground just yet. but as i said, as we get to mid morning, we'll start to see that picking up
