miriam wolf was born in 1916. my friend shirley siegel in new york city was born in 1919 and some of -- smith born in 1919 and several more born in the 1920s. more than 100 women agreed to give oral interviews. they created the oral histories. the transcripts of these histories are available on the website with the exception of a handful that are restricted to the next for several years. each was interviewed by a lawyer from her community who was trained as an interviewer by the project. project provided the interviewer with a broad list of suggested topics covering the trail blazers entire life to be used in the interviews. they were tape recorded and later transcribed. most of the histories required several interview sessions. when transcribed, the sessions ranged from 100 to 250 pages in length. if you less than 100 pages and several as long as 500 pages. the individual who -- remember all of the you gave your time and the interviewers gave their time and it was a commitment on everybody's part and an act of lo
