we are hearing from san francisco mayor london breed today after some business owners in the mission district took the first steps toward filing a lawsuit against the city over bike lanes. >> the business owners along valencia street say muni's decision to move the bike lane to the center of the road dramatically reduce the amount of available parking spaces, and that has led to fewer customers, as the mayor said, officials with mta are actively talking with business owners, but there must be protected bike lanes on valencia street in some capacity . >> the goal is for safety in general, this is a thoroughfare for that bikes use. they're going to continue to use it, and we want to make sure that we're able to provide safely different modes of transportation down valencia street. but ultimately we have to make sure and that's what we're doing now is to explain to merchants that there are trade offs. >> the business owners say they want the center bike lane removed and want the city to compensate them for lost income. if the city denies that claim, the businesses plan to file a lawsuit. what a

so for decades they have been selling on the streets in the mission district. it's been profitable for a lot of the vendors. but according to the city of san francisco over the past few months, if not years illegal vendors have been coming in, they're not license with the city they have been causing problems, crimes selling stolen items to the point where they claim it's been bringing down the other vendors, the businesses in the area where they were told to move to a designated area to sell their items for their protection. the vendors say that doesn't work with them because a lot of their customers know exactly where they are, where they can be found and it is hurt their bottom line. but the city of san francisco mayor london breed says crime is down and that's why they will continue with this program. >> the vendors who we've been talking to, they have gotten financial resources. they've gotten other spaces. they've gotten free permits. so it's it's it's a lot of communication and we're actually paying a non-profit organization to work with them to ensure th

san francisco is apparently extending its ban on street vending there in the city's mission. district city thinks is working to roost crime. but the vendors don't like this isw have the numbers to prove it. let me show you how used to look like in the mission district in san francisco where street vendors were allowed to sell on the sidewalks. they have been doing that for years and quite successful. they say their customers know where they are, can find them and often buy from them. but last november, the city says let's move you to designated locations so the city can monitor the situation after seeing a lot of unlicensed vendors going in there causing crime robberies, assaults. and that's why they say for the protection of everyone, for the betterment of everybody in that location. let's move you to those city locations. yes, it has been working as far as crime resolving it, reducing it. but the vendors say it has cost them so much money to the point where sometimes the only make about $20 a day. here's mayor london breed pointing out the success of crime reduction. >> the vendors
