we were 200 miles away in missoula with the democrat rod quick's campaign when the news broke. i showed the original ben jacobs tweet to a staffer and everyone thought it was a bazar joke and as the night progressed it was clear this was real. we took the 80 mile-per-hour highways to get to boseman. we stopped add a gas station on the way. i told a clerk about this. she said to me that sounds like my kind of politician. this is at best a huge embarrassment. he was by most accounts going to win this race. the polling has been all over the map. it's a special election on a thursday in may. but the numbers had him winning narrowly to as big as seven or eight points. a lot of votes already in. how much this gets in the blood stream or effects people who haven't made up their mind in what's been a high focus, high energy election in a state that doesn't typically have those, we'll find out tomorrow night. >> thanks for the hustle in covering this. he has made it toboseman. thanks for the driving reference. appreciate the effort. so much to talk about here. they get one at large seat
