i traveled all over missouri. i drove day after day in the heat and i feel better now than when the campaign began. i have one reservation. i did have a head-on collision in my car and got a sprained wrist and some broken ribs. they are almost well now. i didn't stop. that probably happened around raleigh. went on handshaking and making short speeches. then he turned to politics. politics does sometimes press hard. i have gone my own way. i refuse to let politics into public contracts and i am gratified now to know that the very persons who sometimes criticized me bitterly said i was right. i'm proud of the new courthouse in kansas city and the remodeled building in independence. i did not have nearly as much political trouble with them as with the roads. working on the road program set precedents that were respected on later projects. then he turned to his primary , election victory. i am proud that the latest figures from world missouri show that i received more county votes than in any other election. that prov
