time to get the results in here in missouri. this is that republican senate primary. eric schmidt, the state attorney general had led the pulling coming in today had a late shift in's favor. eric greitens the former governor for starting scandal several years ago trying to make a comeback. he had been leading, there was sort of a push by a lot of republicans saying be careful here if greitens gets the nomination, this could be a senate seat currently held by -- not running for reelection, this could put the race in jeopardy in the general election. so there's been movement towards schmidt in the final polls. we will see in missouri wet and's up playing out as the book starts to come in. one more place it was in michigan the polls have closed. there's one particular congressional race that we are all keeping a close eye on tonight. it's the third district but soon back in there, there you go peter meijer is one of ten republican meter members of congress who voted to impeach donald trump. one of the first votes voted in congress

and washington correspondent in missouri. dasha s this the first major test of abortion rights on the ballot since roe v. wade was taken away by the supreme court? how are things shaping up there? >> jose, behind me is one of five abortion clinics in the entire state of kansas. it became one of a few in the entire region since the supreme court decision overing roe v. wade. many of of the surrounding state states have enacted all out bans or significant restrictions to the procedure. the stakes are high because of that here in kansas as kansasens become the first in the nation to vote on the issue since the supreme court decision. watch. it's the final push in the first state to put abortion on the ballot since the supreme court overturned roe v. wade. in kansas, activists on both sides working around the clock ahead of tuesday oes vote that could determine the future of abortion rights here. it's impossible to avoid the debate here. there are signs everywhere of the ballot battle ahead. from the streets to the air waves, in

"won all of our endorsed races in kansas and missouri. great going. eric, still no last name. big night. thank you." so president trump there was really, really enjoying having all this power and influence in this race, which of course is the story in a lot of the states around the country here. i'm told that former president trump was really interested in injecting a little bit of chaos here. we should note, though, that eric schmitt having won this race, he is favored to win the seat to

i'm chris jansing live in a rainy kansas city, missouri. there's a huge story just over my right shoulder, across the border, the shocking and overwhelming win for abortion rights activists in kansas. now being seen as a bellwether for the midterms. one publication called the issue "rocket fuel" for what is typically a low-key primary in the summer. the amendment to strip abortion protection was defeated by nearly 20 points. a resounding backlash against those pushing more abortion restrictions in the wake of the supreme court decision on roe. here is some of the reaction when the results came in.
