reporter mitch blocker sat down with that agent. >>> 12 years ago, fbi special agent was asked to bugitting mayor's office to know if bribes were used to get city contracts. the fbi got more than it bargained for. the scandal stole the headlines away from a close mayoral race. less than one month before the election, the mayor john street was down in the polls to republicans sam cant, and then tipped off by a source, the mayor's staff had swept the office. they found a bug. what few knew in the fall of 2003, the fbi worked for months to listen in on conversations inside street's office. >> our reduuse, if you will, we were doing a security survey post 9/11. >> the special agent was tasked with putting bugs in place, but, first, he had to see the layout of the mayor's office, touring city hall in august 2003 under the pretense of national security. >> i wanted to see what did the mayor's office look like, was there a drop ceiling? what was the furniture? what were the locks on the door? did we see alarms, things like that. >> reporter: then draws this sketch of the mayor's office using
