they just have given biden this enormous opening. >> mitch mcconnell agrees -- >> right. >> swings that hits it right through there. i actually, you know, i mean, this is one of the more -- when i talk to republican sources this feud between scott and mcconnell has been one of the more emotional ones and people are upset about it but this is why. this is going to lose me seats. what are you doing. >> p.s., it could have. there are other reasons as well, this is not a new tactic. the democrats and the president, he wasn't out on the campaign trail all that much before this past midterm election, but when he was, he -- even from the white house, like he would talk about the rick scott plan as much as he could, because he knew that it was -- had the potential to help democratic candidates. it's why mitch mcconnell the republican leader didn't want it but when it comes to the here and now and policy, you're right. most republicans don't want to cut these entitlement programs, but there is a negotiation that will start very soon about where to cut spending and he's trying to make the point,

>> well, mitch mcconnell read it.from the very beginning mcconnell was like this is going in the trash can. he really had no interest in this plan. that's part of the reason for the bad blood between these two men. he really dismissed it out of hand and knew how damaging it would be before the midterms. this is part two of a strategy -- well, i guess you could call it a strategy on rick scott's part to put out a plan that he thought was great. the democrats immediately seized on and ran on. they ran on this in 2022 as well as the last midterm cycle and found it to be a very effective argument to redirect the american public toward something that they know americans really care about, which is the issue of entitlements. i think the white house is more than happy to have this discussion. and it doesn't help that republicans haven't put anything else on the table. it would be one thing if they were saying, this is rick scott's plan but we have a whole other plan. the only plan that's out there is rick scott's plan. so wh

listen, you mentioned mitch mcconnell.nervous about in 2022 when rick scott rolled out this plan. even back in 2022, biden was making an issue of it. he went to florida. he passed out rick scott's 12-point plan to a crowd there and was highlighting this idea that rick scott had of essentially putting medicare and social security up on the table, and up for grabs, every five years, and having it be a reauthorize. i think the problem that republicans have on this is they have talked about changing social security, raising the retirement age, same with medicare, privatizing social security. so, it's kind of an easy attack, because we've been here over many years with republicans and social security in these very popular entitlement programs. so, i think it puts biden in a good position, not only going into 2024, but going into these debt ceiling negotiations as well because you have republicans repeatedly saying this is not what we want to do. this is not what we want to do, but if you're explaining, you're sort of losing, i
