i am joined by lieutenant .eneral mike marler -- moeller thank you rolling this hearing. we are committed to remaining the best in the world. that means being able to fight and win against pure adversaries. in the middle of trying to make sure we meet that future and keep readiness high, we have had to deal with the sequester. when the sequester hit back in february, it was well known that there were only two places in the budget to find the dollars to match what was needed to be cut. one was an operations -- essentially hitting a readiness. that also hit our workforce with the furloughs. the second place is our investment. with our investment accounts looking at somewhere between 10% and 11% cuts. flexibilitiesing to soft and that to about eight percent. i should make the mistake. there is damage being done. i'm going to talk about the investment situation and what is going on there. to begin with, what was done was each program was scrubbed. commitmentsk money, for next year, were taken, swept up. there was a promise that some of it would be returned. what also was done

the ceo gave his assessment earlier, jon moeller on "squawk box." >> we held sales in each of our reportings, grew 8% in developing markets, we grew 11% in japan and earnings were right where we expected them, why is which we're able to reconform guidance on the fiscal year, 5% to 7% earnings per share growth so we're right on track. >> right on track they say, jim. you believe it? >> yes. i think there's a lot of runway there. there were some issues in some the divisions, still haven't come back, hair and grooming. this company did not move aggressively into emerging markets. unilever did not have a good quarter. this is a great american company, it needed some stability. it's very inexpensive versus historical. >> what, about 20 times, between 18 and 20 sometimes? >> the two and a half on the 10-year, get 3% on proctor. proctor has as good a balance sheet as the government, if not better. we're going to talk about amazon in a moment. this is really the opposite to amazon. this is a company that is very bound by how we do traditional investment analysis. they're going to tweak and do bette

joining us now to talk through the results is jon moeller. jon, it's good to see you. he had to go. dusty baker, i think. i mean, you know, you lose six straight. are you with me on that? >> we're looking forward, joe. we're looking forward. >> oh, are you? okay. so these numbers -- i looked at everything and in the past when you've been on, you've noticed how a stock sometimes -- here we are right near a 52-week high. is that an all-time high too, jon? i haven't checked. >> yes. all-time high. >> it would be an all-time high. you're right there and you can see some of the weird stock movements. because people really do go into your organic sales performance and they want to see you hit exactly where you say you're going to hit or they don't like when you lower the low end or any of that stuff. is everything going as planned that you told us last quarter? >> everything is going as planned. organic sales growth came in at 4%. we held sales in each of our reporting segments, we grew 8% in developing markets, also grew in developed markets in the u.s. which is the largest consumer prod
