why are we here at moffett field?the california air national guard is based. they're one of the few groups in the country with the ability to do rescues that far out at sea. this morning they were called out to help and two planes left moffett field for that mission. the last plane left just 20 minutes ago. on board the planes are rescue helicopters, a crew of 30 people, and lots of fuel. they'll parachute off the helicopters on to a raft next to that stranded fishing boat to get to the injured fishermen. these are pictures of the 129th rescue wing's prior missions. this does give you a visual idea of the type of work they do, rescuing people from out in the middle of the ocean. their helicopters can refuel in mid-air and that makes it possible to conduct these rescue missions without stopping on land. >> the helicopters can then hoist an individual off in this case a vessel over water, they can hoist the two individuals off this fishing vessel and then transport them to mexico for continued medical treatment. >> repo
