ktvu janine de la vega has been following this story from moffett field.anine. >> reporter: right now the crew from the 129th rescue wing is getting ready. they know a baby on board a boat greatly needs medical care. the rescuing will help the family. that is in the pacific ocean 900 knot call miles off the coast of mexico. at 8:00 this morning an mc130p aircraft will depart moffett field with the crew with the air national guard to join the rescue mission. another aircraft like it is already out there. last night four of its rescue men broke into the ocean by parachute and boarded the boat. they reported the parents are on board with another subling and their boat does not -- sibling and their boat does not have power. we do have video from a previous mission. they have been well trained and prepared for this mission. they have helped saved the lives for more than 1,000 people. the plan is to have pave hawk helicopters go out to the location. the crews will host the baby into it and take her to a medical facility. the aircraft that is leaving this morning

the 129th rescue wing based here at moffett field is all about saving lives. they often fly behind enemy lines to rescue downed pilots in combat situations but they also have performed about 1,000 civilian rescues. this was one of their most difficult. 12 members of that rescue team landed here at moffett field a couple of hours ago. they were on that mission to save the stranded family off the coast of mexico. the rescuers included a doctor who parachuted down to the family to give that sick 1-year- old antibiotics and over medicines. some of the rescue teams did not want to give their full names but they said the family was surprised to see their level of commitment to save a life. >> they were surprised that the united states was willing to put people, you know, 1200 miles out to sea to pick them up. demeanor was calm and collected. their names eric and charlotte. we were very impressed with the way they happened the whole situation. >> you brought home a family. everybody is alive. everybody is healthy. it's a huge save. don't underestimate how big of a de
