mohammed val joins us. there seems to be a lot of conditions as to whether we'll get to the truce. what is the latest on the truce? >> yes, lots of conditions from every side. we hear from the other sides houthis and sadr loyalists, the houthis, the de facto government, told al jazeera that they will positively deal with any move that could alleviate the plight of civilians, help bring humanitarian supplies there, and also go to talks upped the supervision of the u.n. and not go to talks in saudi arabia. and they announced from other sources that they will deal with the truce, only if the blockade on the sea and air will be lifted and if the strikes will be - will be ended. these are lots of conditions and we lack here any information about any kind of rehabilitation by the saudis or any kind of coordination between the two sides, even if indirect, about how to implement this or respond to the conditions. we know the party of the former president issued a statement welcoming a truth, saying they'll wedge a truce from any side. it's a small step, but could lead to a lasting ceasefir

let's go distraght to mohammed val with the latest. he's in the saudi capital. a call for a pause in the fighting, how likely is that to be received in riyadh. >> it is interesting that at the time john kerry is coming to call for the ceasefire. the government has sent that letter to the united nations security council asking for ground invasion in yemen to protect civilians and also to force the houthis to comply to the resolutions of the united nations security council. we have two trends that go against each other. kerry is holding the meetings he's had a series of those meetings with the crown prince and today with the yemeni foreign minister before meeting. after that he met with president abd-rabbu mansour hadi and the foreign minister. he is expected to met with king himself, and during all these meetings they are going to discuss the two ideas, an idea that calls for a ceasefire and an idea calling for ground forces in yemen to rescue the civilians there and to comply to resolutions. it has been a difficult discussion and it will continue to be tough. th

mohammed val joins us from the saudi capital riyadh. let's start with the fighting in yemen. what do you hear about that? >> there is an escalation here across yemen, there's a new element. attacking rebels inside saudi arabia. we have seen them attacking soldiers killing them. that has been enough concern for the saudis. now they have targeted cities there's intensification in the areas on the north, and areas close to the border. that is the development. saudis are distracted from yemen itself and now focussing on the protection of the border. also air strikes as you mentioned are continuing inside yemen in areas and houthis are digging them up. they are not shows signs of retreating from the surrounding areas of aden. it's bloody and there's civilians falling. >> it will be a tough job for kerry, to establish a pause in the fighting for the humanitarian effort right. >> yes, that's the situation and kerry, once a complete lull in the air strikes so that humanitarian situation can be helped in yemen, they have another idea to create safe zones in yemen for humanitarian reli

we'll cross to riyadh and bring in our correspondent, mohammed val, joining us from there. i think you were listening in to that interview. not much clarity on whether the houthis accept that ceasefire proposal and whether they will adhere to it. >> that's right. it shows that there is a lot of complexity around this whole initiative. because we have two sides who in principle say they are willing to stop the war for a while, but we don't see a mechanism on the ground and enough coordination even behind the scenes that is going to happen. each side is very much suspicious of the other side. they don't trust one another, of course understandable. within this context there must be another side a third side in this, to mediate the ceasefires. to give a guarantee that they'll stop at the same time. none will violate the ceasefire. this is a huge problem. we heard that iran is sending a ship a cargo ship to a port under houthi control. if it happens without the coordination of the saudis and their alike it will be another complexity there. the saudis announced that they are now
