[applause] >> president cook: commissioner moliga. >> commissioner moliga: you know, one of the things that i went to when i was first on the commission was a funeral of a murdered kid. he was an immigrant kid, right? and you know, i was just sitting there, thinking, i was, like, man, you know, what are we doing as a district to be able to support -- and he was -- i think he's -- he was a student in this district. and so i also grew up in this city. i also grew up when, like, san francisco was super diverse, and you'd have all kinds of friends from hondurian, salvadorian, filipino, so it was like i grew up in that culture in san francisco. so in my heart, i'm super happy that commissioner lopez and sanchez carried this forward. it's just, like, way overdue, like, you know, we grew up in a time where these kinds of things weren't available for us. i grew up with latinx friends who -- some of them graduated from juvenile hall, right? some of them didn't graduate at all, right? and some of them, you know, are not here today. and a lot of these kids have come through this school system, ri

before we begin, i would like to announce that i am -- last time commissioner moliga is switching with me. i remain as a member of the committee that this change is effective as of today. report from recent committee meetings. vice president sanchez has reported out. is anyone ready to report out before i start calling on people? >> we met at the budget and services commission meeting. it was a packed agenda. a lot of it was updates on some of the business service items that have been coming up. those continue to happen. i'm very excited about that as a means for us to communicate with families. i want to state that a lot of families who have i.u.p.s are supporting their students. >> i encourage folks to look at the board docs because our budget team created a comprehensive overview of our budgeting process. i encourage all commissioners to look at that as well. it is a nicely done document because it shows at what point in time throughout the year we have very budgeting items that come up and with our budgeting and different points that come before the budgeting committee and the full

we are integral to making the schools run well, and after speaking with commissioner moliga in the structuring of his resolution which brings structure to the bond measures that the citizens have supported prop a and e. he is working to incorporate our meshes in that process and creating infrastructure to include our members. in you think it is hard for educators and principals to live in san francisco. imagine somebody working 3.5 hours a day. can they afford to live in san francisco? talk about families doubling up, tripling up. please consider that when you talk about this housing and include all of the folks that work in our schools. thank you so very much. >> thank you. next speaker. >> i am lower rain bowser. i am a cafeteria worker for the school district and rep for local 1021. not to be disrespectful at all about the teacherrerses and housing. i have been a cafeteria worker for 30 years. our people are part-time. a lot of people loved out of the city they are not able to stay here. i want to say, please think of the members of sciu having a huge housing problem, not just teachers. i w
