juan-carlos molinas is there now. are there any further details at this point? >> they are not releasing a lot of information now. we've been waiting for the police and other officials to have a press conference, and we've been waiting a while. we have been speaking to some police who directed us here. they are really trying to lock down the mall, assess the situation, and get a hold of everything before they come out here. when we initially arrived here with the entrance to the mall - it was blocked off, they turned us around, kept us a safe distance. we saw some people evacuated out of the mall, out of the parking area. they were taking shelter. some people in the bank of america - we were moved next door. they are bringing some people - whether they were inside the mall or family members that had people in the mall. we heard people talking about relatives that were in the mall shopping or working, that were still in the mall when they arrived here. when the police locked down the mall, they still had quite a few people in there. it's a huge massive complex -

juan carlos molina is joining me on the scene. what do you know? >> well john even though this is not considered an active shooting scene anymore there are quite a few police out here still. we are in the parking lot, the macy's to the right of where i'm looking and there are police stretching all along the parking lot, they are keeping people from the distance of the actual mall. things have called down a little bit. as we said mayor did speak earlier. this is what he had to say. >> jim tedesco said we had a confirmed single shot. everyone is safe, no one has been injured. right now we have police agencies from all over the state who are now going through the mall sweeping to ensure that whatever people are in the mall at this time, it is locked down, are evacuated in a safe and orderly way. i want to let everybody know that this is something that we trained for. every police agency is working hand in hand to evacuate the people in a safe and orderly way. i again wand to ensure that there has -- want to ensure that there has been no injuries, ther

. >> maria molina is in the weather station. >> this could be possibly one of the strongest hurricanesr typhoons. we hear the word typhoon we are not used to hearing that word across portions of the western hemisphere. it's exactly the same thing what a hurricane is. we call it different names. the storm system called a typhoon that is a cyclone across indian ocean and southern pacific ocean. this had winds of 195 miles per hour during land fall. that would make it one of the strongest storms during land fall in any country. still a category 5 storm. it is a super typhoon and has maximum sustained winds of 165 miles per hour. that does mean you could be looking at gusts of 175 miles per hour still impacting central portions of the philippines. you did mention katrina, ainsley. i want to point out some of these winds are the strongest we have seen with some of the storm systems not during land fall but katrina saw winds of 125 miles per hour. there is extremely heavy rainfall with this possible. >> thank you so much. >> thousands are getting kicked off of insurance plans every day thank

for that we are going to check in with maria molina with the latest in the weather center. states from illinois and indiana hit really hard. how many reports of tornadoes did we see yesterday. 68 tornadoes in states like illinois, indiana and even across portions of ohio. we received over 300 reports of damaging winds. basically winds in excess of 50 miles per hour. what happened yesterday we had the strong cold front pushing eastward and basically you have warm air east of cold fronts behind it you have colder air. it really starlints to produce e retation in the storms. that is what does produce these tornado touchdowns. this particular outbreak could go down in the record book as one of the top five worst tornado outbreaks in history for the months of november. it is unusual seeing this kind of activity during fall time typically we see the activity during the spring months with warm air ahead of it. we have a thunderstorm watch early this morning across parts of the northeast. we had severe thunderstorm warning north of the new york city area. our thoughts and prayers w
