i spoke to new york congressman mark molinaro on his way into the chamber, he said he was fine to vote for jordan for the first two rounds, but that he told the jordan team he was going to be a no on this round. he wants his conference to once again as we have seen them do before, go behind closed doors and try to find someone else to be speaker. molinaro was one of those who was at one point backing the idea of empowering mchenry in bipartisan fashion. he says he's still on board for that, but it is clear the rest of his conference is not. i'll keep looking down just to make sure there is not any new no votes, but as we get later into the alphabet, i see this as a vitaly, i'm look at david valadao of california. as we were watching the floor, he was huddled by people who are previously votes against jordan, and it is an interesting point of internal politics here, you got kevin mccarthy of the california delegation, giving that nominating speech for jordan, publicly, trying to show his support for the guy who is the speaker designate, valadao is a close and long time ally of mccarthy.

thursday, he's down to 25, brian fitzpatrick, republican pennsylvania, kane of new jersey and mark molinaro, republican from new york. they are tabulating the official ballots. patrick mchenry, acting speaker pro tem , i spoke to kevin mccarthy, former house speaker and asked what is next. and have a conference meeting probably around one:00. it is unclear what they are going to solve. by the time they have these meetings. yesterday morning, let me tell you how much whiplash there's been on capitol hill. they had a meeting at 11:00. prior to that, the plan was to go into the floor and look for jim jordan, that supposed to be the third roll call vote. they had a meeting and jim jordan said he was behind the plan to elect patrick mchenry, the speaker pro tem, so he could do things on a more permanent basis and get the house running. jim jordan dialed back from that and said i want to go to the floor, there was not a floor vote last night. they came out and said jim jordan was going to have a press conference. he had one at 8:00 in the morning, he indicated he would be able to gain support. th

the next one was mark molinaro, a freshman from new york.er catskills, southern tier, if you can picture that. very politically competitive territory. voted for biden by five points, that district under its current configuration, in 2020. the third to break is from new jersey, tom kane, son of the former governor. a freshman republican. had voted jordan on both of the first two ballots. his district voted for joe biden by four points in 2020. kane is a target in 2024. a lot of folks were surprised he had been with jordan. on the third round, he moved away from jordan. this means that of the 18 biden district republicans in the house, nine of them, with the addition of these three, nine of them have now voted against jim juror dan. that means nine are voting for jim jordan. that might be one of the other surprises here. david valadaio, mike garcia from los angeles county, his district voted for biden by double digits, they stayed with jim jordan for a third vote. maybe a surprise there. the bottom line, all of the previous votes -- i can show
