joining us is larry kelly who runs the free molly norris foundation. thank you for joining us.e doing? >> well thanks very much jake for having me on. i really don't know. i came across her story shortly after i finished my book. i wrote a book which is my response jake to 9/11. it was a ten-year odyssey, and i, in my research found out about her. by the way, my book is "lessons from fallen civilizations: can a bankrupt america survive the current islamic threat". >> so how did you get involved with molly's situation? you read about her. >> yes. i just in my research writing the book came across it and i think it was like a lot of americans was shocked that -- to think that she, the first american journalist forced into hiding by radical islam, could happen in the united states. >> what do you think molly was trying to accomplish with the everyone draw muhammad day? was she trying to offend people or taking a stand for the right to offend people which we have in this country? >> that but she actually said and the research that i've done that she was encouraging people to expand

>> let me tell you a bit about the molly norris person i know.cere person i've met. she's the most well meaning person you'll ever meet. when she learned about facebook page with the vulgar cartoons she distanced herself immediately. she realized this is the wrong thing to do. she distanced herself. she went onto meet local muslims here in seattle including my friend. molly norris made this great short film about the experiences of american muslim women who wear the head scarf. she said to destroy stereotypes, she found them to be so hurtful. she drew the cartoons not to insult but to stand up for free speech. >> her life has changed. she had to change who she was and perhaps how she looks. anyone thought those lists know they were very wrong. as we know one of the editors of "charlie hebdo" was on that list and he's now dead. what has it been like for molly to disappear and change her identity and become a different person? >> it's everyone's right to live happily and freely. that's been taken away from her. no one deserves to have that happen t

. >>> we want to turn to molly norris who has been in fear for her life and in threats for her safetys day, and so now, david gomez, you were the fbi assistant in charge of the molly norris case and what did you think when you heard that islamic nuri al awlaki issued a death threat to her? >> well there was a debate of the executive management as to what our proper role should be. did we have a responsibility to the protect molly, and that argument was made at the fbi head quarter, and of course, it came back, absolutely. nobody in seattle wanted to be the first field office in the united states where an american citizen was vicktim mized for exercising her first amendment rights. >> so molly was forced to leave her family and friends and go into hiding and she has not been able to work and years afterwards she is still underground. >> well let me make one thing clear, she was not forced. she was given the option. we presented a number of options for her, and we provided herr with a certain amount of expertise in amount of personal security. >> and the threat was credible? >> oh, abso

and you heard the story about molly norris, there.ou say the offensive cartoons that apparently brought the rain of fire on charlie heb do. you think they should have been on all of the papers in the world today? >> i think if every editor in the world, not just america makes it clear that we are not, journalist, when we say we are not intimidated by the threats and not going to stop and sacrifice our liberties and that has special resonance given what happened in france. but america first amendment rights to go ahead and be journalist and not only report the news but engage in satire in carack acture and not a boyd by the extremist that are violent. it is critical to exercise those rights today. nnina, it seems like the world bends over back wards to avoid offending those of the muslim faith. >> when you are talking about jihaddist here in particular and the core of the ideology of the jihaddist, is a lack of willingness to have dissent. and intollerance. and they believe nonbasketballers are infedell and doesn't deserve to live. it

it was molly norris in seattle, washington who had to change her name and go underground and was urnlnder federal protection and still has not emerged believes there's a real threat against her. and something that was a little bit strange in the communications i had with aqap is they pointed me to the most recent issue of "inspire" magazine the 13th edition of it which was released just in december. and if you look in that magazine there is an image of a muslim man kneeling in prayer. and there's a caption underneath it and he is next to a pot that was said it's similar to the cooking pot used by the boston marathon bombers. and it says underneath it if you have the knowledge and the inspiration inspiration, all that's left is to take action. under that is a picture of a french passport. my understanding is that was meant as a foreshadowing of the attack on "charlie hebdo". >> interesting. jeremy thank you so much. we'll take a very quick break. when we come back still waiting for the paris prosecutor to speak on the latest on the hunt for the female terror suspect. that's expected to sta

which thankfully now the leaders are serving time because they threatened the south park creators, molly norrisosted after fort hood because of criticism of the islamists because they threatened violence they are put behind bars. in my own mosque i wasn't threatened by name, but a few months ago there was a sermon that said there are muslims that appear on fox that hate islam. what the imam said in my own mosque in front of my family, and yet, they denied it was about me when i wrote an op-ed criticizing them trying to get the antiseptic of sunlight on what they said. we need to expose this, the more we expose to muslims and non-muslims who speak out, the more we will treat the disease. stuart: do you believe people like you at the moment are cowed, suppressed by the pressure of muslims who do not feel the same way you do? >> we are, many muslims don't feel the urgency. they've taken on the victim mentality. and i think the biggest thing we don't realize is the lobby pushing the mantle is the organization of islamic conference, 56 countries that created this entity called islama phobia, anyone
