i had my mom but that was my wife, she was my one. so it woke me up and let me know, okay, you have to get yourself together because you are going home at some point in your life. so i started doing -- the guy asked me to do challenge, i decided, okay, i will try and it kind of -- it really changed my life because i thought people didn't want to hear my story, the younger guys, you had guys coming in there 15, 16 with life sentences and they did, they we wanted to hear my story and it actually made me a better person. so i continued to write the book and started making plans of when i got out, i wanted -- i knew i wanted something different. i knew i didn't want to come back again. i had a lot of support through my time of being in there. one is my sister right here, she was with me every step of the way, my mom, my grandmother, she passed maybe the first year that i went in. and that kind of -- that was a big piece of my life that was -- she was everything, i knew i could fend -- depend on her for whatever i needed, once she was gone
