and today, moms demand action is the largest grassroots women—led movement in the nation. the last year or more, you've stepped away from leadership of moms demand action, and you talk very publicly about the need to make more time and space for yourself and for your family. and yet now, here we are. and one reason we're interviewing you today is because you've stepped right back into the arena and you've just done something pretty extraordinary. you were the sort of co—organiser of an amazing zoom call for women to get involved and back kamala harris�*s new presidential campaign. and as i understand it, within hours of setting up the call, the call took place. you had almost 200,000 women who wanted to be part of it, and you raised more than $8 million injust a couple of hours. what prompted you to come back into the arena? you know, i stepped away from moms demand action at the end of 2023 because i never imagined it would be an infinite position, and i really wanted to hand the reins over to someone with a different perspective so the organisation would evolve. the leade

happened in 2013, everyone was afraid of the gun lobby, in 2022, they were afraid of volunteers, moms demand actionsurvivors. republicans said i want to support this because i am getting seven to one calls in support of this. these are red districts. we were in the hall when the senate votes, and i watched mitch mcconnell high-five mitt romney. they wanted to do something. they wanted to take action. what is exciting is not only did you have this movement, you also saw a bill that brought so many ideas from both sides to the table. folks like tom taylor, who was the biggest -- from north carolina, but is the biggest champion of under 21 background checks. this is his thing. it's like when it comes to investing in 988, that is something republicans brought forward. we think about the gridlock. if you look at different parts of the country, it is a whole different story. in florida, red flag law was a republican effort. they have used it 12,000 times. this is how they address violence. any of you go to virginia or arizona, we don't want that progressive policy. woah, florida, this is their thing. tex
