not only are we looking at a change in monda monetary policym the last 10 years but we're seeing a balancethat? >> there's two issues for the balance sheet. how much farther do they go on shrinking the balance sheet. not only that, what is the balance sheet look like in terms of its structure once they get done shrinking it. they have a lot of mortgage securities on there. they want to get rid of the mortgage securities. do they continue to hold long-term treasuries? so the fed bought a lot of long-term treasury bonds during and after the financial crisis. if they hold onto those treasuries, that's very positive for the market. maria: so you are expecting a rate hike this time around, though? >> absolutely. they're going to do this time and then they'll probably do it again in december. i really want to hear what jay powell has to say about inflation. we're right at the fed's 2% target. if inflation doesn't move much further above the 2% target, there will be people asking why are they raising interest rates if inflation is right at the target. maria: that's what i think the president has
