it is something that they've tried to get on the ballot in santa monica. they pulled back on that. massachusetts state legislature looked at it, they said no. san francisco, it's on the ballot. not by the board of supervisors or by the mayor but by signature petition. they collected more than 7,000 signatures to put this before voters. now, there are a couple of key issues here. the big one where almost everyone's saying it's going to get tossed out if it's passed is first amendment grounds. it doesn't have exceptions for religious purposes. jews and the muslim communities have done circumcision for centuries if not thousands of years. i need to figure that out. they're saying, you can't impose this on us, you can't say we can't do something we've done for generations and generations. you can also say that there are religions over history that believe in human sacrifice, you can't do that here. there's got to be middle ground. it would strike me they're going to have problems on religious grounds. this isn't killing somebody, this is doing something to alter their body, but it's ce

santa monica is a world away from the mean streets of south boston, where bulger got his start. today, bostonians in l.a. stopped by to take pictures of the place where this legendary criminal career finally came to an end. >> for people from boston, this is the bin laden capture. >> reporter: today, the judge asked bulger if he had read the 200-plus page indictment against him. bulger answered that he had not, but that he was familiar with all of the charges, as is anyone from boston. diane? >> okay, david. and i want to bring in abc senior justice correspondent pierre thomas. pierre, why did it take the fbi 16 years? >> reporter: diane, here at the federal courthouse in boston, they had been hoping to bring bulger to justice for years chls but it was difficult, because he was a master of disguise. the fbi's man hunt was both national and international and it was futile. with possible is sightings in mexico, canada and europe. in 2007, the fbi obtained this video of a man who resembled bulger strolling in italy. they were never certain it was him. >> we pursued him literally ac

catherine greig, were arrested wednesday after an anonymous tip brought authorities to their santa monica apartment. it was a media blitz targeting greig that led to the tip and sealed their fate ending an embarrassing chapter for the fbi. >> have you seen this woman? the fbi is offering $100,000. >> reporter: according to "the boston globe," the tipster actually lives outside of the country but had crossed paths with bulger and greig before. she saw a news story about the ad and immediately called the fbi. she wishes to remain anonymous out of fears for her safety, but the tipster may get the $2.1 million in reward money. before fleeing boston, bulger was an fbi informant spilling the dirt against his rivals. at issue now is whether he will sing to the feds by ratting out his accomplices or even the fbi agents who had protected him for so long. and this case will continue next week. hearings are set for here at the federal courthouse. we also should point out that this case goes beyond boston. officials in florida and oklahoma are also pursuing cases against bulger. in those matters he c
