russ: congresswoman elected monica delacruz from texas. thank you for joining us. >> i am the editor of axios. our final director is the executive director for advancing educational equity, excellence and opportunity for hispanics. she is joining us from washington dc. melody. melody: it is a pleasure to be with you. >> let's start and zoom out. can you tell us a little bit more about the history and mission of this white house initiative and where it stands now? melody: i'm excited to be executive director of the white house hispanic initiative. it existed since 1990. every president has been to it by reinstituting an executive order. for me, it was exciting as a latina who has worked as a nonprofit advocacy and campaign signed on sectors to see the executive order come out. it was very artfully written with a lot of steps to it. a few things that are new are our executive order uses center on education. it is housed in the department of education. my boss is a secretary and i wonder latina cabinet secretary. -- want a latina cabinet secr

texas congresswoman-elect monica delacruz joins us. time and a great addition to the congress to have you in there. what is your plan? what are you calling the administration to do? >> look, we have a say of relief th title 42 will remain in place for a couple of months more. we are asking the biden administration to come down here and talk to the border patrol agents and to the cities around here. we need a long-term solution that will keep migrants here coming at a steady, slower pace and not the mounted of people coming at one time. we are talking ten, 12,000 people crossing the borders at one time. this is putting stress on local communities. >> griff: we can show you estimate a border crossings if it ends, per day 14,000, they say per month, 420,000 pier a ticket to the year level, that is more than 5 million. those numbers are unbelievable. monica, i want to ask you about the dissent we got from supreme court neil gorsuch and he rode something eliminating. he says the current border crisis in court should not be in the business o
