let's go to monika samtani. it's 5:00 a.m. you've been really busy, almost as busy as me today. >> we're even today, howard. >>> we've got a live picture of a serious accident on the inbound side of new york avenue at florida avenue and a close- up look at what they're dealing with with a tractor-trailer and two cars involved and serious injuries as well. it's been there since just before 1:00 this morning and the investigation will continue again this morning. we'll take another picture live from the traffic land camera and show you the closure at florida avenue. you're going to need to plan early if you're one of those commuters inbound on new york avenue. i suggest that you just simplify things to the south of the accident. you wouldn't to go ahead and take bladensburg road as you head inbound on new york avenue and to the north of the accident, take montana avenue. that will take you on to rhode island avenue and around the accident and avoid hopefully the delays that are going to be caused by this accident inbound new yor

monika, over to you. >>> thank you so much, howard. good morning, everybody. things are actually looking fine at this point. there are no big deals to report with the exception of one area in anne arundel county. if you're planning to head on the southbound side of route 3 out of odenton at rydell, there was an overnight tractor- trailer accident involving a tractor-trailer and a van. unfortunately there's a fatal involved in this accident so it's going to take a while for the investigation. in the meantime, i suggest you use state stevens church road to johns hopkins to get around the accident on the southbound side of route 3. on route 50 we'll take a live look at 97. there are no problems to report coming in through this area. annapolis as you head for the beltway and cheverly. insides the beltway you're going to be fine into the northeast corridor. let's head back over to the maps this time all the way to the west side of town. no problems to report on the toll road out of leesburg, 66 out of haymarket. a live look at the american legion bridge on the west

monika here with your time saver traffic. it's bun one of those days not only maryland but also virginia. there's an accident on the westbound side of the dulles toll road right at the beltway. that one just happened. but if you're planning to head over, first of all, on the southbound side of 270, the accident here at i-370 has been cleared to the shoulder, but take a look at the delay. at least here at father hurley boulevard trying to get down toward i-370 i suggest you go ahead and take great seneca highway and get back on to 270 just beyond the accident scene. again a tough one on 270 for a few miles trying to get down toward 370. back over to the maps and this time on to 395 on the northbound side. long-standing accident here sitting on the shoulder at duke street or just beyond that near seminary road. we'll take a live look. again, it's these flashing lights attracting all the attention. we'll go back into springfield on the northbound side of 95 to give you an idea of the delays. they begin in dale city and it pretty

monika? >>> the big story on the traffic end this morning is definitely going to be this huge sinkhole that we've been telling you about on the westbound side of annapolis road at route 1 in bladensburg. it's completely shut down. it's bug enough that they'll have to wait till after the morning rush hour to get that situation sorted out. you're being diverted on to alternate route 1 to upshire back up to route 50 around the scene. avoid the bottleneck it's going to cause and use the bw parkway or route 50 instead heading into northeast d.c. we'll keep you posted on that situation of course. let's take you over to the beltway. first live near route 50. if you're planning to head in prince george's county along the beltway, you're going to be fine. near route 50 and down towards the wilson bridge this morning on the inner loop. we'll go back over to the maps this time on the west side of town. no problems through centreville on 66 and toward the beltway, the dulles toll road, there had been tha

monika? >>> good morning. i went out the door yesterday to get in the car and i said oh, it's really nice out here. nice to not have to bundle up on february 1. the only big thing you have to deal with in terms of traffic this morning is all that construction in virginia. that's ongoing. you know it if you drive this area on the inner loop of the beltway near annandale and up in tysons on the inbound side of 66 as well right around route 123. we'll take a live look at 66 in centreville. it's very quiet. here at route 29 no issues to report as you head all the way to the beltway. if you're just heading out the door, the construction should be cleared up within the next few minutes. we'll go back over to the maps. also some construction on the westbound side of route 50 at courthouse road. 395 is nice and clear between the beltway and the 14th street bridge. we'll go live to the 14th street bridge and into downtown. everything is looking fine along pennsylvania avenue and constitution avenue as well. a quick rem

let's go to monika samtani. some big problems early this morning. >>> the big story of the morning has definitely been here in northeast d.c. on the inbound side of new york avenue at florida avenue. serious early morning crash. you're looking at it live. a tractor-trailer and two vehicles involved. one went under the tractor- trailer. they're waiting to get that crane to pull that car out of there. the investigation is going to take a while as well. i subject go ahead and take bladensburg road or montana avenue to rhode island avenue as your alternate route. we're also going to take a live look from sky 9 here in the annandale area. it's a bit dark but this is braddock road. it is shut down inside the beltway between ravensworth road and backlick road with a power pole down. you can see the crews are on the scene there trying to fix that situation. in the meantime i suggest that you go ahead and use little river turnpike, route 236 as your alternate route. i'm going to take you live outside on the inbound side
