monika santami, the beltway at 66, monika? >> reporter: yes, i am. i'm in a safe spot. don't worry. you hear all that traffic behind me. yes, that's the beltway right here at the interchange of 66. we're talking about the 495 express lane project this morning. we'll do that in just a minutes. first let me tell you how traffic is doing around the beltway. no problems to report. we're doing well. a little bit of slow traffic forming in the usual spots. let's zoom into 270 where you'll find the brake lights forming at route 80 in urbana off and on through clarksburg and then you'll be okay to where the lanes divide. the american legion bridge west side of town, traffic is moving well across the river here into tysons corner. we'll also take a look all the way on the east side of the beltway and again no problems to report in new carrollton, the entire prince george's county stretch of the beltway is doing final. once again we're here at the 495-i-66 interchange talking about the 495 express lanes project. with me is jamie and she is the vdot megaproject spokesperson. i hope i got that

let's go to monika santami. monika, where are you now? >> reporter: i have moved and i'm now on the west park drive bridge connection at tysons corner. it's all part of the 495 express lanes project. in case you haven't heard of it, it's been going on since 2008. they're widening the beltway, adding lanes and there will be a toll. we'll give you the details on what they're doing now and the fact they're in the home stretch. that's good news for all of you virginia drivers. let's look at the beltway and talk about traffic. no problems on the beltway. it is running incident free all around town. we're going to zoom into 66 on the inbound side and take a live look near nuttily street where you've got a little -- nutley street where you have a little bit of slow traffic fortunatelying. overall delays out of manassas into centreville with the lanes open. 95 in springfield on the northbound side, you have slow traffic as you leave the prince william parkway to the occoquan river. there was an accident in woodbridge on route 1 south of route 123

monika santami here with time saver traffic.en telling you about the funeral procession that began out of baltimore and hit our beltway i would say about half an hour ago. look at all the red on the north side of town. outer loop now. your lanes are open here in college park. they passed this area. they're right now right in bethesda as the rainstorm is hitting the beltway. a bit unfortunate on the outer loop. they've had to make peered ontic closures of the beltway. now the 270 spur as well. we'll go there live on the southbound side of 270 where no traffic is moving right now as the procession moves through, past 270 and then they will let traffic free so that all the traffic is behind the procession. we'll go back over to another live look at the beltway and this is over at the american legion bridge. so they're going to head across the legion bridge to the gw parkway. let's go back to the maps. the plan is to head south on the gw parkway to arlington national cemetery. gb parkway is running free and smooth till the processio

monika santami, it's 6:00 a.m. how are things going on the area roads? >>> generally speaking they're okay. there is one accident i want to tell you about southbound layhill road which is closed right now between glenallen and georgia avenue. follow police direction to get around that one. here's what it looks like on 270. you can see it's beginning to slow down just a bit out of frederick as you head down toward urbana. we'll take a live look on the area roadways in maryland. if you're planning to head southbound, here's what it look like at route 121. here is where it improves down to the point where the lanes divide. you're still okay toward rockville and the beltway. this time we'll go to a live picture. if you're planning to head on the northbound side of 95 and 395, here's what it looks like. still pretty light at duck street. no problems to the 14th street bridge. i want to give you a heads up that marc train 890 on the brunswick line is 30 minutes to 40 minutes late right now. i'll keep you posted on that situation. in my next report, we'll take

here is monika santami with traffic. mr. bernstein, how was your weekend? >>> fine. it's march 5.ttle snow on the way but conversational stuff like we were talking about. well south of town, you have to get south of fredricksburg, maybe lunchburg, those areas, they may get a little on grassy surfaces but around here other than wet, light snow and flurries, not expecting much more than that. looking at the day planner, plenty of clouds. again later this morning maybe a little light snow or flurries developing. we'll have a noontime temperature still only around 40 degrees with a bit of a breeze kicking up. it is going to be a chilly day. by 5:00 p.m. mostly cloudy skies and 44. you can see the system off to the west this morning as we've got temperatures cold enough to support some snow and to charleston -- west virginia that is coming out of kentucky. this is going to slide off across southern virginia. areas along and south of interstate 64 have a much better chance of seeing some stuff than we do. we have our temperatures this morning in leesburg in the upper 20s. culpeper 28. 3
