nbc 10's monique braxton are live where police are comparing his bravery to an officer who died earlier this year. monique, explain. >> reporter: that's right, vai. they're comparing it to what happened to officer robert wilson iii. luckily this officer did survive. just as we spoke with you last i can tell you that crime scene has returned here to the scene. police tape remains here at tyson and rising sun. on the other side of it to the left, we can tell you that forensic units just re-examined that vehicle. then we saw them walk back to the front of rising sun pizza and go around the corner and head down that alley. now look at our video. our camera captured this exclusive video of an off duty officers, detective from northwest, uninjured walking with police. we're being told he is lucky to be alive this morning. here's what investigators say happened out here. two men, at least one of them entered as the off duty officer was waiting for his order. the robbers snatched $20 from the detective, then ordered him to get on the floor.

"nbc 10's" monique braxton is live on the scene. what's happening now. >> reporter: hi, tracy. this is what residents are waking up to. crime scene tape marking the rising sun pizza shop. detectives are inside still interviewing the workers, combing through surveillance tape. we captured this video of the uninjured officer walking with police. here's what investigators say he encountered while awaiting his order. two men, at least one of them armed, entered and grabbed $20 from the detective. they also ordered him to the floor. he did, but when the detective sees the robbers head towards the pizza shop workers, he identifies himself and pulls out his weapon. a gun battle follows shattering the glass at the counter. this morning the detective is being hailed as a hero. two shots missed him but one suspect collapsed and died here in the parking lot. he was hit in his chest according to police. police do hope the surveillance

nbc 10's monique braxton is live at southwest detectives in west philadelphia.monique, tell us more about the investigation to catch this person. >> reporter: this is the time of morning that cabs are being stolen according to police from west and southwest philadelphia. of the 12 taken so far, police tell us two have been used allegedly in the commission of crimes. investigators released this video with hopes people will recognize the individual caught on camera. monday morning, three males robbed someone at gun point in 4,000 block of westminster. one week ago there was a shooting at 41st and og done. in both cases, the cabs have been found. they have the logo 215 get a cab. if you're about to take one within look for the rear-facing certificate that's posted on the glass that separates you from the driver. also ask for the driver'ser is certificate. >> these are 2007 to 2009. because of use of keys and ignition all the time, the ignition gets warn out. the number of teeth that engages the ignition wear out. you can pretty much use any ford type key. >> invest

that is where we find nbc 10's monique braxton. the cause of the fire remains under investigation tonight? >> reporter: that's right. you can see the fire began on the 11th floor according to the fire marshall. the windows have been boarded up. although people at the scene say grease caught fire in this apartment, the official cause still isn't being released. moments later she grabbed her dog and ran down 12 flights of stairs. she described encountering unbearable smoke. >> i opened the 11th floor door and it is pure blackness. a firefighter came up and is like evacuate the building it is an actual fire like get out now. he was so serious it was scary. >> reporter: we watched as many as 120 volunteer firefighters rush to the towers shortly after the three alarm call went out. she came looking for her elderly parents. >> i am trying to make sure she is okay because my dad just suffered a stroke not long ago. >> reporter: she found them evacuated and okay. fire marshall says the accidental fire sent seven people to local hospitals i

monique braxton. >> reporter: the cab driver spent more than two hours here inside 30th street station talking to police. right now those detectives are briefing the entire department on what the cab driver said. looking at our video, our camera captured the cabbie moments after he told police he recognized at least one of the fugitives who escaped. inmates 48-year-old richard matt and 34-year-old david sweat cut their way out of the clinton prison near the canadian border last weekend. the cabbie says he picked up two people between 4:00 and 4:15 this morning at vine and broad and dropped them off at 30th street. we spoke with him just moments ago. >> that's when i thought, that is not -- it's one of them together. now >> reporter: now we also have video of the cabbie giving police the receipt of the fare. he told the officer the two people he picked up just after 4:00 this will morning paid cash. this morning i also reached out to police commissioner ramsey. he says there have been different sightings in different states and police are following up on those at this hour. he also said

nbc10's monique braxton is live. what's the latest update? >> reporter: i spoke with detectives in the northwest division of the city and they told me they have now identified the victim. while they're not releasing his name they do tell us he is here at einstein medical center fighting for his life. let's look at our video from the crime scene. we've also learned from detectives, the victim is in his late 20s to early 30s. they say just after 11:30 last night, the man was discovered in blood on the sidewalk here near sixth and summerville. investigators also say he had been stabbed in the back, shot in the thigh pep also had puncture wounds in his face and back. now, before he lost consciousness, the victim did tell police he was robbed of his wallet, his watch and his cell phone. now, detectives tell us they do know that two men and one female were seen running from the area. they also say they're in the area right now this morning, combing the community for surveillance videotape. it's definitely an investigation we're going to stay on top

. >> nbc 10's monique braxton is live on the scene at 32nd and wallace streets. monique, what can you tell us. >> reporter: a short time ago i did receive an update from police. they say this is still a very bizarre case. the scene is still being guarded by an officer. she tells me southwest detectives are en route. a woman is in critical condition, a man in police custody. take a look inside as i share what police told us. just before 4:00 this morning, officers were called to 3216 near 32nd and wallace. a 68-year-old man who lives here told investigators a 29-year-old woman break into his house to use the bathroom. the unidentified man also says he hit her on the head with an ax to defend himself. right now, he is at southwest detectives. the victim is in critical condition at presbyterian hospital. now, the ax has been recovered inside this home. investigators also say they're working on a couple of things because they want to prove that the man who says he hit the woman with the ax actually lives here. they say it lacks more like a vacant home, according to th

monique braxton is live at the hospital where the teen is being treated for serious injuries. >> reporter: that's right. kyle pszenny is here in icu, surrounded by his family and fighting for his life. earlier today, we went to the crash scene in pennsville and found one of the first people on the scene. >> kyle went through a three to four hour surgery this morning for swelling on the brain. i believe he has a broken neck, shall vertebrae in his neck are broken. he has leg injuries. >> reporter: pennsville police chief says 17-year-old kyle pszenny, a high school football standout, is in critical condition. at the scene we found markings showing where the accident happened, where police found his keys his hat, and his skateboard. police say pszenny was skateboarding home there his girl frndfriend's house just before 2:00 this morning. >> how far was he thrown? >> i'm going to guess matt between 200 and 300 foot. >> reporter: the speed limit is 50 miles per hour along this rural stretch of road near lee avenue. investigators believe pszenny was hit from behind. we spoke with a witness who
