nbc 10's monique braxton has an update. monique? >> i do have some new information for you since our last report. i spoke with someone who lives west of 5th and south. and she told me she was able to take a shower. she does have water. but this is what the scene looked like when we arrived here about an hour ago. you can see police tape is up. you also see now water is gushing from two areas on 5th street heading north. there is a larger area here right in front of johnny rockets. you'll be able to see as soon as this car passes. and over to the left, just below the handicap sign there is a small area of water gushing from the street. now, we've reached out to the philadelphia water department to find out exactly what time this happened, what may have caused it. the size of the main that broke, and when they expect crews to come out and repair it so that water is restored to this area. so far, we have been unable to get a response. but as you know, south street is a very busy part of town. there are dozens of businesses near this in

nbc 10's monique braxton is live at the scene with new details on the attack. monique. >> reporter: this is the man philadelphia police hope you can help them catch. they say just before 1:30 this morning, this individual stabbed a cashier here in this walmart at philadelphia mills. they say a cashier stopped him or attempted to, as he approached the counter. they say that when she stopped him, he showed her a $10 receipt that was not authentic. and this is what he said to her according to police. he said, i'm going to kill you and then he pulled out a folding knife, lunging it at the cashier. the cashier tried to block it and was stabbed in his right arm. a customer in the parking lot also attempted to block the suspect's car with a shopping cart but the suspect got away. this occurred six weeks before the holiday shopping season begins. >> this walmart is open 24 hours. even as we near the christmas season, there are already 50 people inside the store, there are 30 employees and there was 20 shoppers inside when this happened. >> reporter: philadelphia police

nbc 10's monique braxton is live in the digital operations center this morning. monique, i know you've talked to the cashier? >> that's right, lauren. he declined to speak on camera citing walmart's policy against doing so. but in our video you can't help but notice the bandage on his right arm. investigators say just before 1:30 this morning this 35-year-old male captured on surveillance videotape stabbed the cashier. investigators say the suspect had a 48-inch flat screen tv and boots and was on his way out of the store. when confronted by the cashier, he presented an old $10 receipt. the cashier told him the receipt wasn't authentic. at that point, this male threatened the cashier. >> the male said "i'm going to kill you," and then he pulled out a folding knife and lunged it toward the chest of the cashier. the cashier blocked that lunge of the knife with his right arm and was stabbed in the right arm. >> reporter: the suspect fled with the flat screen but not before a customer in the parking lot attempted to block his cart with -- his car with a shopping cart.

monique braxton is live in o digital operations center. >> no doubt people are keeping their rain boots close, and they are concerned about the wind but they tell us what they are most concerned about is the high tide. as you know there was one overnight last night and another one expected this afternoon, and look at the incredible video we captured. friday night, this house collapsed. we found the back bay home floating in the grassy sound channel in middletownship. and one neighbor says debris that from house hit the plumbing under her home and inside it was dry, the homeowner anticipates water. >> i am fourth generation down here, so i'm used to this. i don't have rugs, i roll them up so they don't get wet every year. >> neighbors say they are planning to repair a dock they built together as water pushed through yesterday, some of the boards you see here came upcoming apart, and this dock was put in after the original washed away during hurricane sandy. we'll keep an eye on the coastal flooding. >>> that coastal flood warning in a limited state of emergency remain in effect for delaw

monique braxton has been tracking this story all morning long. >> this montgomery county neighborhood is waking up if a neighbor, if somebody they know is responsible. imagine finding this as you head out to work. it's what people in pennsberg discovered on thursday morning. the front seat of a truck destroyed, and not far away in an alley, this garage was gutted. families told us it's tire faying and one said it's sad it has come to this. they say the arsonists didn't start there. police were called when two cars were left charred nearby on friday morning. many in the close-knit community say they are joining forces with hopes of preventing further destruction. >> i think you have to really always keep an eye out, no matter where you are nowadays, and if you see something, say something. >> we have kids and we have a life and we work hard for everything we earned, and these kids don't realize this is a felony and this is a problem. >> the neighbors we spoke with suspect kids are committing the crimes in the wee hours of the morning, and police do not have the suspect and they say one

nbc 10's monique braxton spoke exclusively to the family after last week's break-in, also has more on the search for those responsible. >> reporter: investigators now have this surveillance videotape of three gunmen who forced their way into an apartment here in the 1300 block of seller street last week. the couple told us two men tied up the 51-year-old male, while the 52-year-old female, his wife and grandson, hid in and adjacent bedroom. >> tied me up and i cooperated with them. >> reporter: the camera captured one suspect jumping a back wall of the property. and the other two leaving the home with a flat screen. the female victim also showed us where the stolen laptop and game system, as well as keys, were once placed. >> 56-inch tv was right there. the playstation, kids' playstation, xbox was over there. >> reporter: the victims also say the suspects took about $200. if you recognize the men seen on the surveillance videotape, you're urged to call philadelphia police. in frankford, monique braxton, nbc 10 news. >>> police in north jersey shot and killed a pit bull after it attack

monique braxton got live on the scene. what can you tell us? >> reporter: good morning to you. one male is recovering at a local hospital, and let me show you the extensive damage done to his home. the fourth rowhouse hin from the intersection. heavily engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived after 3:30 this morning. you can see it's completely gutted. the first and the second floors. firefighters also tell us they rescued two dogs, one of them had to be resuscitated here at the scene. that dog also suffered a cut on its leg. the fire did not spread to the adjacent homes according to one of the fire chiefs. there was no water or smoke damage. some of you ma notice that these older row homes have brick fire walls between them and basically that stopped the fire from spreading and that appears to be the case here in crescentville. so, the residents have been allowed back into their homes, the one adult male is at a local hospital being treated for his injuries. the extent of his injuries is not known at this point. and the red cross rescue organization which reaches out to in

we'll have the story for you on the evening newscast live now in north philadelphia, monique braxton, nbc 10 news. >>> wrapping up the trial from the deadly building collapse in center city, philadelphia. griffin campbell charged with reckless endangerment and third degree murder. the collapse killed six and injured 13 others. on friday, a construction engineering expert testified in the case. he says the demolition did not follow basic common sense rules of the industry such as tearing down the building from the top down. experts say the decision to use mechanical demolition rather than a manual process likely factored into the collapse. he also believes the general contractor, griffin campbell, made the decision. the machine operator pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter for the role in the deadly collapse, and he testified for the prosecution this week. so did the woman who was trapped for 13 hours before rescuers pulled her from the rubble. this is video from the rescue of then 61-year-old myra, who lost the entire lower half of her body because of the collapse, and she told nbc

nbc 10's monique braxton is at the scene of the latest crime to fill us in on what happened. >> reporter: we arrived here this morning, we were shocked to find out what had occurred. this is a very busy stretch of broad street, even at 1:00 in the morning. there are dozens of businesses, a couple of churches. you see the movie complex just in the distance. all the way on broad, very busy pretty much 24 hours. this shopping center at broad and jefferson has a 24-hour grocery store with security guards and there's banks here, three of them with surveillance cameras, yet investigators tell us this is where the fourth robbery near the campus of temple university this past week occurred. temple police sent text messages saying the victim was robbed about 1:00 this morning. police have not made any arrests, and it's also unclear if the victim is a student. nearby, philadelphia police say a man was attacked and robbed while walking to his participant at 19th and diamond last night. you see the video from force 10 over the scene as officers conducted their investigation. police say the four men
