we watched the montecito fire department use their high water vehicle to get through this flooded roadneely road near highway 116. that vehicle is about 12ft off the ground. it can get through four feet of water. on the other side of that flooded road are homes and the sonoma wastewater treatment plant, which has to have a crew staffed 24 hours a day. the monterey fire chief explained why they had to use that high water vehicle to get over there this morning. >> we have this here all the time. we use it last night a little bit. so what's happening today is they called us over because there's a sewer plant at the end of the road. that's a shift change. they got to keep the plant going 24 hours a day. so we haul the people across and bring the other shift back out. >> so the people in the shift change from last night were not able to leave because the roadway was flooded because of the storms. now, we also caught up with the manager of the nearby guerneville pee-wee golf business that's on the other side of highway 116. he came by in a kayak earlier this morning. he was checking to see i

behind us is the montecito fire department's high water vehicle. this thing can drive through flooded roads, and they've been using it since last night. now what they just wrapped up doing here, which we could have shown it to you live, but they just wrapped up their work, so they were. they pulled up here just about 45 minutes ago. and what they had to do was take some workers over to the sonoma water treat wastewater treatment plant, which is on the other side of this now otherwise impassable road. this is neely road near highway 116. and so there was a crew of wastewater treatment workers on the other side of this from last night that weren't able to leave after their shift was over. and there was a crew that needed to get there today. so the monterey fire department was able to use that high water vehicle, a special vehicle, to drive through all of this and get those workers switched out for those shifts. but any other type of vehicle should not drive through this or any other type of road that shows even just a few inches of water. it's very h
