actually higher risk areas, a marginal risk for severe storms right there near the monterey peninsula down the central coast. there is a slight chance tomorrow if you're near the central coast or monterey, you could see some of those stronger thunderstorms develop during the afternoon. what's bringing this moisture in is this area of low pressure aiming in on central and southern california. watch the intensity of the showers as we go through the day. not a whole lot there. if you need to do anything, from 2:00 to 4:00, that's going to give a little energy boost to these showers. it will make for more intense storms locally. once we pass sunset, we should begin to see the showers start to shut down. but the rain totals have actually been upgraded since our evening forecast, taking into account we could be seeing briefly some heavier showers. after the system clears on out, our next chance for finding some rain will be that colder system coming in from the north on tuesday. then the rest of the week, once we pass midweek, actually trends drier. we'll call it some interesting weather to

we're talking monterey south. there's a chance that we could see isolated severe thunderstorms today. so you really want to keep close attention to your nbc bay area weather app and the radar application as things will get more active here by midafternoon. notice the radar starting to show some activity here offshore. this is a compact area of low pressure that is approaching the coast as we go hour by hour will see rapid changes once we head to the middle afternoon. for the morning, as we head to noon to 2:00, now we're seeing some of the stronger storms fire to the south. those will be lifting northward from 2:00 p.m. to early evening we'll have this opportunity to see a few isolated thunderstorms and probably brief downpours, too. we could see some pretty heavy rain, brief bursts of that as it continues to move on through and then rain moving into portions of the south bay, even into about 11:00 tonight. so we've gotten an upgrade, the total amount of rain that we're now expecting out of this system. most of it
