monterey bay aquarium getting into the holiday spirit.r for halloween the popular tourist site is changing the name to monsteray boo ascarium. pre-pandemic they used to have these overnight stays you could do there. this is extra spooky. >> the only thing spooky we have to deal with is a lot of wind. >> winds are howling in parts of the bay area. we are going to see winds picking up by late morning, but this time it won't be as widespread as the previous wind event we had. now it's for solano county and the bay area about 10:00 this morning. some of the stronger winds come through the sacramento valley and funnel through the delta. that's why we are keeping an eye on solano county for today. for the south bay, not as windy. we're headed towards 78 in gilroy. for the east bay, a few spots could reach 80 degrees, but mainly some mid to upper 70s here as it will be a nice and sunny afternoon. a lot of sunshine for the peninsula as well. san francisco at 66 and 68 downtown. north bay temperatures reaching 78 in sonoma as well as 78 in ukiah.

it's kind of taking aim here in northern california, the bay area down toward monterey bay, and it really sets up this pattern for your friday for your sunday. so here's the forecast model. typically we're talking about rainfall, maybe a quarter of an inch, maybe to an inch, but you can see the projections through monday, getting way up there for the coastal hills of the north bay, possibly over eight inches. even the central portions of the bay could be over two to actually what happened is approaching forages in the south bay could be right around 2 to 3 inches. so here is the development on the satellite. look at that big cloud shield offshore. that is a lot of moisture being directed right toward the bay area, and that would be the case for your sunday first thing tomorrow morning early tomorrow morning. up in the north bay. so far, we have some light to moderate rainfall showing up on the radar. in fact, the rainfall coverage has been increasing within the past hour or so. and right now you see the coverage for standard rosa sandra fell san francisco, oakland and in hayward. here's a

the monterey bay. you see some clouds further south towards santa barbara. but the bay area so far has seen a whole lot of winds just yet. in fact pretty calm out there around much of the bay area right now. even a southerly component to the wind up in the napa valley. so that's going to switch before star see those offshore winds but models have been picking up on a pretty consistent now as we head through the night tonight. we're going to watch some of the winds make their way right out of the sacramento valley and back into the bay area. the north bay first you get into 3, 4, 5 o'clock in the morning and you're talking about some gusty winds, maybe some 30, maybe some 40 mile an hour gusts across the mountain peaks not down the urban areas, but across the mountain peaks. then as we head through the morning tomorrow. those winds will continue to pick up and you can see all those gusty winds. they're developing through that area in the even parts of the east bay. the diablo range is going to be blustery out during the day and then by tomorrow afternoon, thin

joining us now is brian garcia, a meteorologist for national weather service bay area and monterey.nk you for joining us. let's talk about what to do and maybe what not to do if you have to drive in a storm. >> the first thing is if you don't have to drive in the storm, don't. if you can postpone your travel, postpone it. that's the key to maintaining your safety. if you do have to drive in the storm, you should have some lead time ahead of the storm coming in. make sure you are prepared for it, make sure the tires in your car are good and properly inflated. make sure you have new windshield wipers. if you're wipers are on, your headlights are on. it's all about those little safety precautions ahead of the storm if you have to go out in a storm. ama: even if you are just looking outside, it may not look too bad. but once you get on the roadways, i thought let's go to the grocery store and as soon as i got outside, i thought this was not the best idea. it was only a mild but you never know what could be up there. how can you tell if the po water is too deep? >> that's a good question
