we are getting information the montgomery station has closed. these are live pictures walking down market street. you can see how crowded market street is because of the protesters and the police there in riot gear. what they have done is shut down a third of -- a 3rd bart station, the montgomery station. they will continue walking down market street. keep in mind so far civic center, powell, montgomery all shut down. embarcadero could be next. >> looks like they will keep going. this started at 5:00 that civic center bart station in response to a protest last week in which bart officials shut off cell phone service to minimize the protest. that angered people, bart said it was a matter of public service to prevent the protest growing more. they shut off cell phone service. people say it's a matter of free speech. they were anger, saying they meant an inquiry into bart's action. so they are carrying signs saying free speech. they are on the move and we will continue to watch them. we have reporters all over and we have been bringing you live pic

it happened at mission and new montgomery. kraig debro tells us the little boy just attended last nights giant game with his family. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, dave. we spoke to the cousin of the nine-year-old. he tells me that they did a cat scan at the hospital and the cat scan is negative for brain damage so the boy will recover. it happened at the intersection of mission and new montgomery. the boy his 11-year-old brother and parents are visiting from philadelphia and just seen the phillies beat the giants. it was a chaotic scene at the intersection following the accident. one of the witnesses is the boy's cousin. the family was heading toward market street when a white suv heading eastbound on mission ran a red light collided with the nine-year-old victim. he hit parked cars and moving vehicles. >> he was not sober and he came back around to the scene of the crime obviously not realizing what he was doing and then he turned back around and got out of there. >> when we got to see the guy in person after they

the bus boycott in montgomery started because of the city's black women and the ministers in montgomery were latecombers and king was nominated to lead the boycott and he said, well, if you think i can render some service, i will. and that emphasis of the call of service i think was of king's career. he said the civil rights career was a calling that god was telling him what to do. he frequently didn't want to be part of it any longer. he was tired because he was speaking all the time. under enormous pressure. everything from the pressure of having to give a new speech every day to the regular death threats he received and he wanted to -- i mean, many times he wrote in letters he just wanted to go be the dean of religion somewhere at some small college. and just have a break. but, you know, he really felt compelled and driven by god, i think, to follow the path that he did. and, you know, it's an example of someone who wasn't -- i think his deep personal faith and conviction to what he thought the lord was calling him to do really propelled him throughout his career. >> i have a bit of

last night when a boy was walking just in front of his family: it was driving northbound on new montgomery which is the wrong way on the street. it turned left on mission street hitting the boy as he was standing in the crosswalk at mission street. >> the suspect continued driving westbound on mission street where it hit several other vehicles some of which were parked and some in the road. the suspect fled the scene we're told entering the freeway south of market. >> reporter: the young boy remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries this morning. we have received initial reports that that boy and his family may have been visiting san francisco from philadelphia for the giants game yesterday. we are working to confirm that. police are still investigating the cause of why that man was driving so erratically and why he was driving down new montgomery in the wrong direction in the first place. back to you. >> has there been any talk of drugs or alcohol? >> reporter: no confirmed reports from police at this point about that. >> thank you. kristy seifkin live in san francisco,

you can see on the next map that the plan does propose the second new montgomery concentration, to take up plants that were left out of the initial conservation district, as well as to review and upgrade a lot of the ratings for the buildings in the district. the plan also identified for bang buildings that could be potential new article 10 landmarks. there are pictures of three of them on one of your slides. there is a more daring union hall on second street, one of few examples on the city, with spectacular art work. the hotel, a poster of quick residential hotel -- a post earthquate residential that is one -- earthquake residential hotel that is one of the only wood from hotels in the city. one of the more innovative things the plan proposes to do is to address sustainability beyond the land use and transportation measures we are used to dealing with in the planning department and planning commission. we are really trying to push the envelope about what we should be considering when we are building out these very dense districts. the scope of the development that will be built here,

you have heard the professional side of it. 20 years ago, i was a very young reporter in montgomery, alabama, and our -- they decided, they had come out to san francisco and decided that they needed someone that looked just like her, and i was the only one in the newsroom in montgomery, alabama that look like her. do you know they forced me to do this show, and that started me on my road to coming out to san francisco and the bay area to live and work here and become part of the community. i thank jan for that. i had no idea who she was, but that is how i got my start in the coming out to california. on a quick personal note, 10 years ago, she says she works out, but she really just kind of talk to people on the machine at certification, asked a fellow should in london, and she said she had a single friend she got really needed a date. i was really busy. i had a new job. we end up going out, and we have been married 10 years now. never say never. some george died. it started here in downtown san francisco right here at the intersection of mission and new montgomery and continued to hayward where they eventually detained a suspect. police believe the man they caught may be the man responsible for hitting a 9- year-old boy around 10:30 last night in this intersection. here's some images that were taken last night when police were detaining the suspect in hayward and clearly this is a ways away from where he started. you can see that the suspect's truck had major front end damage from hitting several other vehicles on the pursuit. police brought several witness to hayward and they say that the car, the white toyota pickup that they have at police headquarters, matches the one that was involved in the hit- and-run accident. the accident actually happened last night when a boy was walking just ahead of his family. a car was driving northbound on new montgomery which is the wrong direction on the one way street, turned left on mission street and then hit the boy in the mission street crosswalk. >> the suspect continued driving on mission street where

mission and new montgomery. witnesses say after the boy was hit in the crosswalk, the truck then went on to plow to several cars on mission street. before that, he had been driving the wrong way on new montgomery, which is a one-way street. a woman was also hit last night, her foot was run over. she is okay. she is from granite bay. the boy is in critical condition. she is at the -- he is at san francisco general hospital suffering from head injuries. >> thank you very much. the san jose police are investigating an early morning murder. they were called to 4200 block of albany drive just after 2:30 this morning on reports of a stabbing, as they arrived they say a 48-year-old man identified him as the suspect and was arrested. minutes later, they found a woman stabbed to death in a nearby apartment. police say it's clear that the two new each other and believe it could be result domestic dispute. they have seen a troubling rise in homicide. 29 in san jose in 2011 compared to just 20 at the same time last year. >>
