we're hearing from a mall employee, a westfield montgomery mall employee saying that the mall, at this not on lockdown. has not been on lockdown. we are bringing you this breaking news that just came in about 15 minutes ago of montgomery conte police responding to reports of a shooting at westfield montgomery mall. a spokesperson for montgomery county fire's rescue tweeting out they are treating and transporting several individuals. we don't know the extent of their injuries or what their injuries are. this is developing right now. we have a number of reporters that are headed to that scene, again, this is happening right now. we're trying to bring you the latest information. again, hearing from somebody inside the mall saying that they have not been advised that the mall is on lockdown or has been on lockdown. barbara >> from what you heard this happened in the parking lot of the westfield montgomery mall? >> yes, we're hearing this is from outside. montgomery county police just tweeting their preliminary information is that there are three shooting victims, two male and one female. t

this is outside a macy's store at the westfield montgomery mall. that would be the west -- southwest corner of this mall property, if you're familiar with it. all of the attention is being focused on a small area of the parking lot just outside the macy's. a large gathering of detectives right now focused on vehicles there. so without any official information we are presuming from looking at that, that that is the location of this shooting where we do understand that three people have been injured and transported to the hospital. two men and a woman. motives, we don't know. time of day, extraordinary. location also extraordinary. especially given the busyness of this mall as our guest on the phone was just suggesting. it is very busy here this afternoon. lots of people coming and going. i do see a gathering of what appear to be customers and perhaps employees in front of macy's, and the mall is still open. there were a lot of people around here when this happened, and there continue to be a lot of people here now. we just don't know what the motive

tonight his sister left flowers at the montgomery mall. this is a large family, a close family. malcolm was a husband. he was a father of two children, a boy and girl who is just about 20 graduate from high school. malcolm's brother said he was a true family man and one of four siblings. he worked as a handy man and was in fact out to lunch today at the mall when he was shot in the parking lot. malcolm's family tells me it was in his nature to want to help people. police say that is what he was doing. malcolm and his friend rushed in to help the woman who was shot first. the gunman then shot malcolm and his friend. right now that friend is in critical condition. doctors and nurses tried but could not save malcolm's life. the understand, is expected to be okay. tonight, we are still trying to find out so much more about the woman shot and killed outside of the giant grocery store in aspen hills. equally as sad and we're so sure as shocking to her loved ones, as well. in a strange coincidence, we believe malcolm went to high point high school, which as you may know is where police
