nbc bay area's monty francis is in sonoma county. and we have two meteorologists tracking the storm. jeff ranieri is looking at rainfall totals, but first we want to begin with rob mayeda. >> finally the rain has arrived in the south bay. it took about 36 hours for it to drop out of the north bay. the santa cruz mountains picking up about another inch of rain. you can see the rain still stretching into the north bay. and it's a the north bay counties tonight that will still see the flash flood watch in effect through about 9:00. that means localized flooding is still possible. which is precisely what we saw out in mill valley. and monty, we had some damage to storefronts in mill valley today. >> reporter: that's right. we're outside of a bar called the 2 a.m. club. this bar along with a taco shop, both flooded. they've put out some sandbags here in case the water starts to rise in the next few hours. now employees spent the day mopping up and disinfecting. the flooding was most severe at the back of the bar where the bathroom drains

monty francis, nbc bay area news. >> thank you very much, monty. the north bay recorded the most rain so far, but san francisco is not far behind. along with the rain, there's also a high wind advisory affecting drivers on the bay bridge. along the embarcadero, we have more there. hello, jas. >> reporter: hi, diane. at surface level we have a light breeze. but there is the wind advisory for anyone traveling across the bay bridge specifically. you should probably take it slowly on any of the bay area bridges. here in san francisco, we really had light rain. no major troubles here in the city. but the farther north you go, the worse things get. as the rain fell, the water flowed. but not every storm drain did its job quite so well. cal trans crews spent time clearing a drain in mill valley. it spelled trouble for those driving through the downpours. still, you won't find many people complaining about it. >> i prefer it. that's why i moved here. >> i've not had enough already, thank you very much. >> definitely love the rain. we've missed it for quite

first let's head out to monty francis. and lots of flooding out there all weekend long.d of foggy out there too. >> reporter: it is a little foggy. the rain is coming do you know. we're here in front of a bar called the 2 a.m. club. the water has since receded. but the sandbags are out in case the water rises again. near by homes were affected by floods and mud slides. on north fern dale avenue, a mud slide severely damaged a shed and the shed came to rest at the corner of a home. near by streets became rivers. creeks overflowed their banks, and a storm drain bubbled up with water. >> inside the restaurant, my office was about a half foot deep. >> the owner of joe's tacos says that storm drain causing problems every year because it overflows with water from a nearby tributary of a creek and floods his restaurant. he says he's complained to the city of mill valley for years. >> all the times i've gone to city hall, talked to people, they just don't want to do anything. >> all of our sinks. the soy let. the drains in the men's and women's bathrooms were all flooding. >> ne

live in oes land, montie francis. >> thanks very much. two people were injured in a drive by shooting to day. shooting investigation had streets blocked off near a shopping center this afternoon. police say that's where they found a man and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. paramedics transported them to a hospital. police say they're expected to survive those injuries. according to police, they're surprised the shooting happened in such a busy area. >> i wouldn't say it's unusual. it is unusual at this time of the day. there's a lot of witnesses in the area. there is a lot of cars coming through here. obviously, it's a busy shopping center. so, yeah, this time of the day is a bit surprising for us. >> police describe the suspect as a black male seen driving a tan sedan. >> 15 people including seven children are out of their homes tonight after a fire at an apartment building in san jose. the fire started in the second floor apartment at 3:00 this morning. two of the four apartments in the build hg minor damage. crews had to turn off
