today they're in montreal. max foster is there as well.llo to you, kind sir, what have they been up to? >> reporter: they were a complete hit yesterday. you saw the pictures in ottawa. the carriage and crowds, a massive display of pomp and pageantry, and the couple did very well there. today, they're going to meet some war veterans in ottawa. catherine will meet some military wives, she is a military wife herself. and then they're headed to montreal, an emotion nam visit to a children's hospital. she's very good with children. then they come here to a culinary school, a cookery school. and william is a great cook. he does a lot of the cooking at home, at least in their main home, they haven't got staff. we don't quite know about the duchess, how good she is. we'll see how good they are at cooking. they'll be cooking with the students and eating some of the food. the other interesting thing about quebec, the province we're in, there's a lot of anti-monarchy feeling, they would rather no have a monarchy here, so we'll see how william and cat

the first stop was ottawa, but now today in montreal. our max foster is there, as well. tell us what they've been up to so far in canada and what do they have left on this trip? >> reporter: well, you saw these particular scenes yesterday, on canada day, down in ottawa. normally 100,000 people turn up to those celebrations at that concert there. 300,000 turned up. so three times as many people showed up just because william and catherine were there. to give you an idea commentary here, this is one of the newspapers, and their headline was "our royal crush." very, very popular so far. >> the royal crush, as you say. but this is the stop in canada now, but they are going to head over to california as well. what are we expecting there? >> reporter: yeah, they certainly are, and there's going to be a series of visits there. all about promoting uk interests, and a lot of interests there, obviously, and lots of media getting ready for they arrival there. a very exciting visit. when we talk about the royal crush and all the attention on l.a., it's actually going to be interesti

britain's royal couple, prince william and katherine are in montreal. the couple made a visit to a hospital. some 35 demonstrators gathered outside the hospital to protest the couple's nine-day visit, calling william and katherine parasites and war criminals. but a larger crowd of about 150 people welcome the royals. the newlyweds are on their first official overseas visit as husband and wife. >>> well a lot of us are planning to cook hamburgers this holiday weekend, but in california, organizers of one county fair are hoping to cook the biggest burger ever. the fair is celebrating its 99th anniversary by trying to set the guiness world record. they cooked the burger today and sold bite sized pieces for 99 cents each. the burger was placed on a 110- pound bun with more than 50- pounds of cheese, 20-pounds of onions, 12-pounds of pickles and 30-pounds of lettuce. it packed a whopping 1,374- calories. not including of course the fries. >> and what was that? >> that's the biggest burger ever. i'm thinking that fair's motto is not everything in moderation.
