monty francis is at sfo with an update tonight. monty? >> diane, i just counted more than a dozen departing flights that are delayed here tonight at sfo, and two that are cancelled. the situation is improving here, but travelers, some passengers are still trying to figure out their travel plans. the computers are back up and running, now the system is just trying to catch up from the mess that started last night, from the computers that control flight departures. thousands of passengers were stranded at sfo. the airport duty manager said there were a large number of people who slept here in the terminal last night. and passengers we talked to say they continue to be frustrated wi lth the tack of information they're getting from united. >> it's like the passengers don't mean anything, and it's every man for himself. >> reporter: united has not provided any information on what caused the glitch in the first place. but did say on the airlines twitter feed that the problem had been fixed. again, diane, this situation here is improving, but de

our monty francis is in san francisco with reaction from two bay area democrats. monty? >> reporter: diane, good evening. earlier today the democratic leader of the house, nancy pelosi of san francisco, asked congressman weiner to resign. there are reports that behind the scenes pelosi is furious about this scandal. so far congressman weiner is refusing to step down. this afternoon he issued a statement saying he would take a temporary leave from congress to seek professional help. all of this stems from his admission that he sent lewd photos to women on fwtwitter an lied about it and engaging in explicit talk with six women on facebook. allegations he exchanged explicit messages with an underage girls he denies. a majority of his constituents think he should stay in office. we caught up with congresswoman jackie speier in the south bay today. she is also calling on her democratic colleague to step down. >> he has refused, and i think it's a reflection on the n narcissistic nature. he is subject to the rules the rest of us are, and that's disconcerting. >> reporter: this

monty francis has the story. >> reporter: good evening, fairfield police are still here at this hour, searching the home for explosives and bomb making materials. it was a long and tense evening that ended with a big sigh of relief for neighbors when the suspect finally surrendered. >> at 1:00 in the afternoon, police surrounded a home on astoria drive in fairfield on a tip that 29-year-old daniel garcia was inside. he was wanted with the combination of a detonation of a homemade bomb on may 27th. no one was hurt in that incident. but just two days ago, police served a search warrant in his home. and found a pipe bomb and other bomb make materials believed to belong to garcia. garcia is a troubled man. >> i haven't seen him for many years. and all of a sudden now, you know, last week, he had the bomb squad and atf and everybody over. >> at about 7:30, garcia's roommate came out of the house and was taken into custody. >> he's a resident and friend of the suspect's. he came out a little earlier, and because of his resistance in the investigation, he is going to be booked in jail. >> fi

nbc bay area's monty francis spoke with senator yee. >> reporter: the law was passed in 2005. into effect because it was immediately challenged in the courts. senator yee is hoping that the six-year-long legal fight will finally come to an end this week. the violent video game law makes it illegal for stores in california to sell excessively violent video games to anyone under 18. the industry argues the law violates the first amendment. in the past the supreme court has ruled there are certain limitations to free speech rights, for example, when it comes to laws preventing children from being exposed to porn grief. yee, who is also a child psychologist, says there are plenty of studies to show violent video games harm children. >> when you have these ultra-violent video games that are teaching kids how to kill and maim and hurt individuals and the technology that is used to train our -- what the officers and soldiers to hurt and kill the enemy and so on, the bad guys, well, this is the same technology that is used to now train our children. >> reporter: yee says he thinks the
