he was last seen at monty vista high school and administrators say he attended his first-period class on monday and failed to show up at his classes and back that day. we spoke to connor's parents who said this was very out of character for their son. >> i'm just afraid that somehow he's somewhere else outside of where we are searching. i'm just hoping that he stayed near home. i just want him home. i just want my baby home. >>. >> volunteers will be working into the evening. we've been told that the santa clara county sheriff's office is checking local parks and they've also been distributing flyers but again, this door to door neighborhood search effort is being led by the citizens group. >> back here live, connor is a three-sport athlete and some of his teammates from the track cross country and wrestling teams have also come out to help with the search. if you have any information that could help authorities you are asked to call the santa clara county sheriff's office. we are live in cupertino. i'm chris nguyen, abc 7 news. >> let's hope someone knows where that young man is. >>>

connor disappeared after his first-period class on monday in monty vista high school. >> we learned that he camped out there the entire time and investigators came home last night after making a spontaneous decision to run away. connor has expressed the deepest sorrow and regret for his actions. he understands there is no excuse for the concern and worry he caused. >> power is back on at 30 buildings on uc berkeley's campus tonight. a contractor doing routine work on the substation accidentally cut a power line. electricity went out for two and a half hours and the daily californian reports someone was stuck in an elevator at the library and had to be let out and some professors canceled their classes and others moved them outdoors. students were frustrated they couldn't use services like the gym or campus cafes. >> kind of like the pace of the day, so not great. >> the last big campus outage was september of 2013. that time it took more than six hours to get the power back on. >>> the campaign to prevent another explosion like the one in fresno last friday. this is video of the intense

sullivan told authorities he left monty vista high school by choice after first period. it was a spontaneous decision. sullivan says he spent the entire time walking around and slept under the bleachers at his school. he was eating fruit off of nearby trees and drinking from a water fountain. today the sullivan family issued a written statement thanking authorities and volunteers for helping with the search. the sullivans said their son regrets what he did and his actions impact the others around him and understands there is no excuse for the concern and worry he caused and they're helping their son deal with what has happened. >> they kept a close eye at an antioch elementary school upon. a child was lured for the second time in a week. >> drop-off was crowded this morning at bellshaw elementary school in antioch. moms told us there were more parents here than usual keeping a closer eye on their kids and now that word has spread of a stranger trying to lure a child into his truck. >> all of us moms called each other. do you know who it was? >> reporter: the school distr
