. >>> more help could soon be on the way for the victims of last month's mass shooting in half moon bay. nbc bay area's red cross society representative is joining us live from redwood city. we're talking about hundreds of thousands of dollars here. >> reporter: correct. good morning, marcus. we are just at the board of supervisors meeting. they'll vote on a resolution to help provide emergency housing for those farm workers who were displaced by last month's shooting in half moon bay. if passed, this is a resolution that would allocate $750,000 for emergency housing assistance for those workers, and it would also give the county permission to enter into a account of up to $1.5 million with someone to provide that emergency housing and emergency support through march 1st of next year. the $750,000 would come from the american rescue plan act. the rest of the money from outside donations. the displaced farm workers lived and worked at the mushroom farms in half moon bay where a man shot and killed seven people last month. there was an eighth person who was shot who fortunately survived.

"today in the bay's" bob redell joins us live in redwood city at the county office. talk to us about what's going to happen at that meeting. >> reporter: the san mateo county board of supervisors will meet like they normally do on a tuesday morning at the county building in redwood city and this time they are going to vote on a resolution that will allocate $750,000 to help those farmworkers who lived and worked at those mushroom farms that were targeted by the gunman last month in half moon bay. that's where a man shot and killed seven people and an eighth person who was shot survived. as part of the proposal, the board will consider entering a contract with someone to not only provide emergency housing, but emergency support services as well for those farmworkers. that contract would run until march 1st of next year. now, this money would come from the american rescue plan act and outside donations. we spoke with the mayor of half moon bay who tells us all the displaced farmworkers

this was south of half moon bay kind of in between half moon bay and pescadero.ficers from the substation out at half moon bay did search for the animal, but they're unable to find the mountain lion. the attack happened around seven o'clock last night. as a family was walking or hiking along this creek road, nine miles south of half moon bay. investigators say the animal attack the child and inflicted puncture wounds on that child. the child was rushed to an area trauma center. we're trying to get an updated condition. as i said deputies did search for the mountain lion, but they did not find the cat. the state department of fish and wildlife is not now going to spearhead the investigation moving forward. we're trying to get more information about that, as well as an update on the child's condition. we're told he or she will survive this attack, but we don't know much more than that, beyond puncture wounds will try to get more information for you coming up in the next hour. we're live outside sheriff's headquarters here in redwood city. jesse gary ktvu, fox two n

this was in the hills above half moon bay. tonight, the boy is back home from the hospital, and the hunt for that mountain lion continues. we'll show you now the little boy. here he is, 5-year-old jack. he and his family were on a private trail off of highway one when the attack happened. jack got a little ahead of the rest of the group, and he walked right into three mountain lions, a mom and two younger cubs. that's when one of the younger cats attacked. the bay area puma project gave us this video telling us it shows the same family of mountain lions that jack encountered. you can see the three right there. jack does have some scratches and a broken bone near his eye. >> his mom susie was able to run up. the mountain lion still had ahold of jack, and she was able to scare the animal off. i think they're very focused on jack's recovery. just feeling really thankful that it could have been so much worse than it was. >> it could have been much worse. joining us now is captain patrick foye with the california department of fish
