at the timing of the winds because it's our south bay communities and closer to places like half moon bay that will see the strongest wind gusts into tomorrow. today again coming in straight from the south gusting up to maybe 45 miles an hour, calming down especially for our north bay communities by early tomorrow morning. by tomorrow afternoon it's definitely going to be windy, half moon bay 50 to 60-mile-an-hour wind gusts before that frontal boundary moves through and as it does, so much calmer winds arrive when the rain moves out. let's break down the details on the timing of the rain. north bay communities through 6:00 or 7:00 will see the heaviest activity. after that you'll finally see that nose of moisture pushing farther south and places down into the santa clara valley, san jose by the very early morning hours getting in on the action. it will continue to stream in moisture. that atmospheric river will continue to funnel in moisture all across the bay area. it is a direct hit and it will continue throughout the day tuesday and throughout the early evening hours. this will be the

this is a live look at half moon bay. you certainly see some clouds that are still out there. >> and there is that chance, especially in the santa cruz mountains of the south bay of a little bit of a shower rolling through. this was last 24 hours, ben lowman that santa cruz mountains area really picked up quite a bit over 2 inches. but, you know, also inch and a quarter there in santa rosa. and you can see about a half an inch or less as we look at the rest of the spots here around the bay area. but needless to say, that was on top of saturated ground. so it's a little bit difficult. blue skies as we take a live look here from the east bay. absolutely gorgeous afternoon. that is developing. and if we take a look right now at what's happening in oakland, 53 degrees, winds out of the south just 7 miles per hour. so that breeze is gone. and the highs today will be mostly in the 50's today, sir, looking out for some of those upper 50's across the bay area. we could get a little cooler than that out of the coast. looking for ab

once again, we are seeing the pockets of heavier rain there, raining in pacifica and towards half moon bayen we're seeing the off and on showers moving over toward the east bay, from the bay bridge toward oakland, down to the san mateo bridge and near fremont. but we're also seeing the rain just passing through the tri-valley, and there's still a chance of rain through 9 to 10:00, mainly south of the golden gate bridge. and then here we are at noon, with a possibility of some rain for the peninsula, parts of the east bay. and then it moves down to the south bay by 2:00, and the rest of the day is dry and mostly sunny. the weekend is looking good, but the cold air will come down and we could have some freezing temperatures in the mornings. and then next wednesday into thursday there is a colder storm system coming in that could bring in some widespread rain as well as more sierra snow and even snow on some of our bay area hills. but look at how much snow we may see next week. after getting a big boost this week, there may be several more feet of snow in next week's forecast as we approach v

look at half moon bay right now. i showed you before the break. the winds in half moon bay. >> around 40 to 50 miles per hour right now. very strong out there. that is a stormy coastline and it is still coming down for sure. pretty widespread rainfall across the north coast. you can see some of those heavier pockets having transitioned inland a little bit. this wind along with this atmospheric river is pushing in from the east, south west. and that west-southwest pushing in an easterly direction. and with that comes that moisture laden air that is just scooting right over the bay. we will see another round of rain come thursday and not one is actually going to be our cold around of showers. so big snow maker in the sierra come around that time. things have quieted down over your bridges. so a bit of good news there. you're just dealing with the rain now. we've had flooding in some of our roads and we do have a flood warning along the russian river guerneville schools being closed because of that. you will continue to see these heavier areas of rai

let's get a look outside at half moon bay right here. little peek of sunshine there in the distance. >> but we have been seeing some pretty regular rainfall south of the golden gate. so far this morning and don't be surprised if you see that picking up in half moon bay here in just a few moments as the showers are about to move overhead, where we're sitting right now, san francisco, oakland, on over towards are in lafayette are seeing a few light sprinkles here. and there nothing. super heavy, right where 85 101. meat on your way. down to morgan hill. also a little bit wet on 101 right there. we are seeing still some flood watches in effect north of santa rosa on up to windsor as well as down towards road or park and mostly west of 101. there. these areas in particular had devastating consequences, especially in the cases where people got stranded in that flood water. and we still do see high water levels there. winter storm warnings in effect till noon for portions of the lake tahoe area. most of that activity is winding down now. and t

rain for san jose, the estimate from the weather prediction center, 3 inches of rain around half moon bayntains picking up over 6 inches of rain, about 2 1/2 for san francisco, heftiest amounts in the north bay, 3 to 4 inches of additional rainfall. some of the individual forecast models are a little variable in terms of how much additional rain will add up in these specific spots, but it's enough we have to watch for the potential again of at least localized flooding over the next few days and watch for the potential of at least some wind damage. the winds are blustery, but the wind advisory is the primary concern through about midday tomorrow. the winds will be noticeable tonight and drive time tomorrow morning, but in the 25 to 35-mile-per-hour range for the strongest gusts. that changes tomorrow afternoon. we see 30 to 40, 45 to 50-mile-an-hour gusts, strong enough to stress the power grid and would lead to the potential of a few more power outages. make sure the devices are charged up. in the sierra this is a snowmaker, about a foot or 2 of snow as the snow levels drop down from wher
