>> reporter: well, these brake ins are happening on the east end of moorestown. this is one of the neighborhoods where homes were hit. we're told by police in the latest incident more than $60,000 worth of jewelry was taken. that last incident we're told happened a little over a week ago. that was on june 26th. but they date back to june 9t june 9th. four homes have been hit so far on borton landing, yorktown lane and court land shire drive all not very far apart. in each case we're told the person forces their way in through the back door or window during the day when no one is home. once inside, they're taking jewelry, even safes containing personal and valuable items. >> they've been going to the master bedroom or bedrooms on the second floor of the residences and looking for jewelry. we did have one save that was taken from one residence that contained some of the residence personal documents. >> reporter: and back here live, police are not sure if it's the same person committing these break ins but they did say the method of entry is the same in these cases.

thieves have made off with tens of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and watches from homes in moorestownrlington county. one robbery netting $60,000 worth of valuables. four homes in all have been hit. >> they've been going to the master bedroom or bedrooms on the second floor of the residences and looking for jewelry. we did have one save that was taken from one residence that contained some of the residents' personal documents of the. >> in each case a rear door or window was forced open. a fifth break in was foiled by a burglar alarm. >> in montgomery county, prosecutors are now saying a man was justified in shooting an intruder in his home. police say the 29 year old homeowner responded to a knock on his door on the 1100 block of willow street last monday. now, due to the hour, he took out his handgun while answering it. the home own are in says the man at the door 22 year old darrell evans threatened him with gun and that's when he says he opened fire. evans died from his injuries. police say evans had a criminal history and was wanted for robbery and drug charges. >>> still no reso
