area's christie smith has been speaking with firefighters and neighbors and joins us live from morgan hill with more on that story. christie. >> reporter: well, cal fire tells us that overnight humidity levels were good, at least at the lower elevations, but it stayed warm and dry at the higher elevations. now, today we talked with people who are under evacuation warnings and those who weren't but maybe live in the general area. either way, people told us they did have a plan to go. >> before they kind of made us a warning -- >> reporter: in the jackson oaks neighbor, john and leslie have been checking the latest fire information for the hills above morgan hill. their neighborhood remains under an evacuation warning, and they're ready. >> documents like certain personal belongings that you really wouldn't want to lose. right now we currently have them in our car, so if we really need to leave, it's already packed and we're ready to go. >> we also have a first aid kit

people in morgan hill are breathing a sigh of relief. they were allowed back home after being ordered to evacuate on sunday. damian trujillo is live with us with a very cautious homecoming. >> reporter: this community wasted no time mobilizing. tonight there's relief, they all have homes to return to. morgan hill police were staffing this checkpoint today, only allowing the locals through. up the hill, residents were unpacking. >> files, some of our favorite clothes that you can't replace and essentials and toiletries. >> reporter: on sunday, the fire was threatening these hills. it has devoured acres in seven counties. >> once you go through this, it's entirely different. >> reporter: the fire headed southeast, meaning these families got to see their homes again. >> you cannot tell anybody to, or explain how it is to say good-bye to your house, look in the rear view mirror and drive off. it's sad. >> reporter: pg&e crews spent the day reactivating gas lines, but tonight morgan hill remains on alert. >> so we're not completely out of the
