morgan? >> reporter: kate, we are standing outside of the courthouse where 37-year-old officer jason vandyke first-degree murder. that was just inside at the bond hearing earlier today and walked in with his hands behind his become and didn't say a single word. the prosecutor, however, had a lot to say, specifically about that dash cam video that is expected to be released tomorrow. the state's attorney said that in that dash cam video, 14 seconds between the first shot and the last shot that was fired by officer vandyke and within those 14 seconds 13 of those seconds laquan mcdonald on the ground. take a listen to what the state's attorney had to say. >> officer vandyke was on the scene for less than 30 seconds before he started shooting. in addition to the fact that all evidence indicate that is he began shooting approximately six seconds after getting out of his vehicle. and analysis of the video establishes that 14 to 15 seconds passed from the time the defendant fired his first shot to clear visual evidence of a final shot. for approximately 13 of those seconds laquan was lying on the g

morgan radford joins me live from chicago. what other defails are learning? >> reporter: we are right outside the courthouse where jason vandyke first-degree murder and we learned new details inside the bond hearing just now. the judge ordered that he be held without bond be inside we learned from the state's attorney new details about what's actually on that dash cam video that the judge ordered be released tomorrow by the end of business day. according to the state's attorney, out of the 14 seconds between the first and the last shot from officer jason vandyke, mcdonald on the ground for 13 of those shots and for 13 of the second and 2 shots that hit his body standing and 16 shots were fired in his head, his neck, his back, his chest. in fact, every extremity. city officials here in chicago are quite nervous and frankly, frances, worried it's ferguson. to give you context, today is a year to the day that officer darren wilson released on charges against michael brown in the fatal shooting of black unarmed teenager michael brown in ferguson. now city officials asking for calm as local leaders called for a peaceful protest on

vandyke is charged with first-degree murder and held without bond and hundreds took to the streets of chicago last night and largely peaceful protests. joining me now is nbc's morganradford covering the story for us in chicago. and, does it seem like there's more protesters gathering again tonight? >> reporter: francis, chicago is a city on edge. after five protesters arrested ast light, as you mentioned even more protests are scheduled for today and into tomorrow. but just yesterday i was standing in front of the county jail which is where officer vandyke is currently being held without bond and a group of young african-american boys 14 years old and all part of the same inner city football team came up to me standing outside of the sat truck and i said, how does it feel? that is young kid, a few years older than you and african-american and male shot here on these streets. how does that make you feel? they said, well, honestly, makes me afraid to leave home. that's the kind of sentiment you feel among the people protesting and turning out and not only questioning the timing of the release of the video but the timing of the settlement. there was a $5 million sett
