we've seen a few crews out this morning doing their morning exercise, their morning practice. 78 degreeske 80 already. dew points at 69. that's slightly less than it was. the wind north, northeast at 6. this front is really coming through. a couple of hours ago it was up near the mason-dixon line. starting to come troop. the eis the air -- come through. the key is the air is starting to get drier. early sprinkles south. then more sunshine. can't rule out a stray shower culpeper, luray, south and west toward charlottesville today and into the mountains but for the most part we'll be in good shape. 5:00 good deal of sunshine. should be comfortably warm into the upper 80s. i know it may be a little sticky but it's still going to be a lot better than yesterday's 95 and all the storms we had. our forecast three days first. today 89 if not 90 with the isolated morning shower. more sun in the afternoon. tonight we should see a patch of fog. by the way the winds are going to be fairly light north to east at 5 to 10. tonight 72 with upper 60s north and west. tomorrow 90. isolated afternoon storms

good morning, tara. >> reporter: well, good morning. the fire inspectors tells us this fire was burning a good hour before the smoke alarms were going off. and we know crews have been up there on top of the roof trying to pinpoint the cause. a retired firefighter shot cell phone video that we have here showing flames and small sparks shooting out of the roof. the smoke alarm went off at 3:00 this morning. luckily, no one was inside. officials say they were able to pounce on the fire quickly. they believe the damage could have been a lot worse without the early-detection system. >> when we arrived, we saw smoke coming out of the northeast corner of the building. and so we immediately gained access to the roof and cut a few holes to identify the area and where was the fire at. >> reporter: now, there's quite a bit of water damage inside the gym and some ceiling tiles are in danger of falling. i spoke to a school administrator who said most likely the gym will be offlimits but classes will not. school is open. back to you. >>> a labor day

keeping us updated, good morning to you. >> good morning, christina.sp air allowed chopper to get on scene here. they are bo highway 87, speaking of unexpected, slow northbound right here. we're looking at one of the vta stations, choppers searching around to get a look at the fire we're talking about. there's a fire off the northbound side of highway 87 right around alma. traffic jamming up there, looked like one slaen blocked, there's an onramp getting aside. they're looking for the fire itself. still one lane blocked. let's show you on the map where we're talking about as the chopper gets oriented. it is right here, west alma chopper was showing you. there was a fire between the expressway over between the cal train tracks and the freeway. now that fire clearly under control, but there's still one slow lane blocking, that has traffic jammed up from 85 all the way to downtown. there was another crash which moved to the shoulder. now expect more traffic 85-17. other folks would take 101. we haven't seen a significant impact just yet. likely more traff
