alex savidge live in oakland this morning with morton story. alex. >> reporter: well, good morning. this all began very early this morning, when alameda county sheriff's deputies began a pursuit. they started chasing the stolen car here in the city of san leandro. eventually that wanted driver led those sheriff's deputies into the city of oakland. [ sirens ] >> reporter: and during that chase, alameda county sheriff's department is telling us the deputies were led to a possible side show that was under way at the intersection of 106th avenue and macarthur. this was just after midnight. a large crowd gathered there and people in that crowd began to throw bottles at the deputies' squad cars. that deputy pulled up. this prompted a huge law enforcement response with dozens of officers called in from oakland police, scanlyian dough police, a.c -- san leandro police, and others. eventually the crowd was brought under control and several people were detained in the process. the good news is that no one, including officers, were hurt during this situation. but we have been told the driver w
