the artist will now put the mosaic up like this. make sure that it's adhered to the grout on the wall. then take the next piece and put it here, and make sure that it's butted up against this piece. and when all this has been done this way, and you see all this with paper, then the artist moists this with water and then he peels this paper off and you see the icon as it really is on this side. the only difference between this side and this side is that all the green you see here is gold viewed from this side. all the other colors are true on each side, on both sides. whatever you see here is on the other side except the green. that's gold on the other side. and so we have what we call byzantine art. now if you take your fingernail and you've realized that each piece of this art is about as large as your fingernail, you can imagine how many pieces are on this mosaic. and you then imagine how many pieces are on the apse mosaic. if you go from the floor to the top of the apse, we have 52 feet. so byzantine art per se, in tempera or oil

here today we're celebrating our 10 years anniversary including large tabletop hearts and smaller mosaic hearts. currently hearts are seen in many lobbies and store properties and a balconies and kiddie parks let's continue to see those hearts cross the entire bay area (clapping) in our lifetime we can create positive change we can all create positive change. i had a change of heart when i had to walk in those commodores with our son. i hope none of you here do i have to walk in those doors say patient but if you or your family member your best friend or coworker ever does you'll be amazed at the medical obsolescence the decreases, the nurses and staff who make this place. the heart auction closes promote at 1:30 today but the best and most beautiful things in the world can't be seen or even heard but must be felt with the heart. happy valentine's day (clapping) >> now we would like to thank each of the artists who participated from the hearts in san francisco project. this year's artists are: shawn, christen, katie and reggie hall, erica, ray deny, panicking and jack and charles da met.
