kelsi thorud is live at the moscone center, getting a taste of the fan experience. how's it going so far? >> reporter: hey, ryan. it's really fun down here. there are a ton of things to do. we're at the nba experience and you can see behind me we're at one of the courts here. they have a ton of courts. this one is featuring some of the young fans out here, enjoying some time on the court, but this is the time, before the big game this weekend, where people can come out and really experience what it is like to be an nba star and also to meet some of the nba stars. so there's all these different kind of pop-ups throughout the center here where people can, you know, create their own little playing card. they can take a shot, see how good they are, maybe compared to steph curry and some of the other players. they also get to meet some of their idols. i was walking around earlier and we saw a ton of the all-stars out here greeting fans. we also saw a bunch of the nba players as well as wnba players doing interviews. so it's a really fun immersive experience for fans. we

moscone center is hosting fan crossover events, and crews have just set up a basketball court at union square. we'll have the golden state warriors academy throwing clinics there. we're going to have shooting experiences there as well. in addition to all of that, the all-star alley has been set up at the powell street cable car turnaround. golden state warriors president brandon schneider says the all star weekend will bring major events to both sides of the bay. these events are geared towards 150,000 fans from around the world that we expect to be here celebrating with us. but equally important is geared towards the strong contingent of dub nation we have here in san francisco in the bay area. now, the weather has already turned out to be a bit of an issue for some of the pre events. that all star alley event this morning was supposed to be outdoors, but was moved inside because of the torrential rains here in the city. and there is an evening event that was supposed to be kind of a public tip off event over at thrive city, chase center it was supposed to take place tonight. it was c

moscone center is hosting the fans crossover events. privately sponsored events are also being hosted at other spots like civic center plaza near city hall, and several basketball courts will be installed at union square for the weekend. and since oakland will also be hosting some of the events, bart is beefing up its service to help people shuttle back and forth across the bay. it will be running eight car trains all weekend,s well as special event trains. and that means that if we see any particular area of the system that's getting overloaded, we have trains ready to swoop in and help those riders out. bart held an event this morning announcing the installation of new fare gates at all downtown san francisco stations. the transit systems leaders say the new gates will help ensure everyone is paying for the ride. the bart chief of police says riders should expect to see quite a few officers as well, and the systems crisis intervention specialists. when i talked to our folks, it's all about the visibility it's getting out in the system.
