joining me now is democratic congressman seth moulton.ts the sixth addition of massachusetts. he is a veteran of the u.s. marines who served four tours in iraq, and he is also a member of the house of services committee. congressman, thank you for being here. i want to talk about what we were just discussing in this last part, and that is the hamas israel war. for months, israel's military as been pushing gazan south to rafah, further and further south. telling people that that was where it was safe to be. and now, those same civilians are being made to evacuate rafah almost with nowhere to go. as israel plans a ground assault, do you have any confidence that this evacuation can be done humanely, or is it going to result in a bloodshed? is it going to be the humanitarian crisis that everyone else seems to be knowing that is coming? >> well, israel is clearly trying to do things to prevent a further humanitarian crisis. but the sad reality is, based on the experience thus far in the war, i think i can say with confidence that's not going t

joining us to discuss all of this, seth moulton, he sits on the house select committee on china. i appreciate your time this morning. for people watching this and hearing kind of the language that is very jarring, when you look at what's happening here, can you explain to them what they should be most concerned about? what are people seeing that's raising these alarms? >> look, we've seen evidence of this work by china in our intelligence briefings for a long time. for a lot of americans, it's hard to understand how this can really hit home, all of these chinese actions could literally result in you losing your water, you know, having your electricity suddenly shut off. china is positioning itself to have the power to do this on our basic infrastructure, and it's one of the ways that the threat from china can really come home to every day americans. >> do we have a sense, and this was touched on somewhat yesterday, but when they would utilize this power, if they have it, if they have infiltrated to the degree people would be concerned about, what would cause them to flip the swit

host: using a question from our audience i want to ask it to you, representative moulton. large defense companies have a major role in aukus? >> the innovation is happening at smaller defense companies right now. it is not that the primes are not innovating to some degree, but the fastest pace of innovation is happening with the smallest companies, and we have got to bring them into the mix. i love the idea of having british and australian companies to be a part of that and fundamentally contributing to pushing the pentagon. there are so many things that we do well, not just well but the best in the world. moving quickly with acquisitions and adopting new technologies is not one of them, so the more pressure that we have not just from smaller companies but smaller companies amongst our allies of the better, because we need to pick up the pace. host: you guys successfully shut down any idea of raukus. could there be an expansion of capabilities? i believe that is an open question. >> if you look carefully, it is open on the technology question. the definitions contained wit
