newspaper articles from like the 1870s, just trying to get a feeling for like what was going on with mount everest. and i came across this article in the daily american in asheville that talked about the death of a chinese american. but that was not the term they used it. like, well, that's weird. why is that here? and i'm reading through it and he was apparently the first chinese-american to live in asheville. he died of conception. i read through the article you find out he only has a cousin who lives in town and that cousin was refusing to have anything do with body. so didn't know where to bury him because. well, he's not white, but he's not african. he didn't contain the categories. right. and so someone from mt. ararat came forward and said well, he can be buried about eric. and i just thought that was such an interesting story. like it laid bare to me there always. it wasn't a binary, right? it wasn't like, oh, you can be buried in the white cemetery or the african-american cemetery. like there are people who may be defying categorization. and i thought it was just a really interesting stor
