emily: the wrong place at the emily: take a look at this, a breathtaking view of mount washington. we have been talking all month about this warm december, and you can clearly see the effects. there is some snow but the ground is far from covered. mike: usually it is loaded up with snow, but this is spectacular. i look to see the deck of clouds below the mountain. i' ll show you what' s going on. i just looked at the statistics -- 32 degrees, which for mount washington in december is pretty good. windiest conditions in the world and right now they are west-northwest. the windchill index is above zero, which is pretty good. we aren' t looking at terribly cold temperatures and this morning we are starting out on a mild note. upper 40' s to low 50' s, very comfortable. so we have the rainmaker that came through, a quarter of an inch in most locations. it really didn' t produce much snow, even up to the north. we have a little wave along this frontal boundary. it will list its way over the top of us as we had through the day. that is why we are keeping the clouds around and why we have

those winds have been a factor all day long, blowing well over hurricane force atop mount washington, and 87 miles per hour. latest gusts from 15 to 30 elsewhere. so we'll still be on the gusty side this evening and that's driving the wind chills back into the 30's. so 40's feel like 30's from concord points south and east. and lower to mid 30's feel like around 30 degrees in parts of northern new hampshire. overnight tonight the winds will abate, skies will partially clear up north and completely clear in southern new hampshire. by morning about 27 up north and on average upper 20's, lower 30's for many. a few mid 30's right long the coast. you know the story about the cold air will retreat away later tomorrow afternoon, setting the stage for a mild weekend. this first weekend of december going to feature temperatures well above the average by close to 10 degrees on saturday and close to 15 above the norm, as high pressure noses on in in the jet stream flow for sunday. so temperatures will run into the 50's in spots. the snow does wind down this evening. sunshine tomorrow for many, a

right at 32 atop mount washington with rain and freezing rain. but elsewhere southeasterly wind driving in temperatures that are well above the average, near 50 at this time right along the coast, and overnight tonight will bottom out in the upper 30's and lower 40's. still remaining above normal high temperatures for this time of year. but there is colder air sitting back to the west and finally tomorrow night into saturday and sunday we'll cool right back to average. not even below the norm, we just get back to norm. what that means is a chance of snow showers on saturday for the north country, and even a passing snow shower south and then temperatures will certainly be cold enough for ski resorts weekend, which is great news for skiers and riders. take a look at the future cast, it shows the rain moving out by midnight, 1:00 a.m., by the early part of the morning low level clouds and fog beginning the break up. one more batch of clouds will scrape the coast during tomorrow afternoon, a slight chance of a shower, but outside of that looks dry f

interestingly, at the summit of mount washington at the observatory, way up there, over 6,000 feet up, it's 37 degrees. we have a temperature inversion very balmy night at the mount washington observatory while down here close to the sea level, in the 20s in many suburbs to middle 30s in boston and nice recovery to the upper 50s tomorrow, except a little cooler on the cape. fine for the game down in gillette stadium in the afternoon, kickoff temperature around 54. fourth quarter, 44. it will be a nice little breeze out of the southwest, 5 to 10 miles per hour. that's all. a few cloud way up north. we may see a few high, thin cloud later tomorrow afternoon, may add to a colorful sunset in spots. just a few cloud on monday but basically, that's about it. it's looking really good to me and looking beyond that, looks like this high pressure is mind moving off and weak cold front, slight chance of a shower on tuesday, more likely showers on thursday, but the next couple of weeks, one to two weeks, the odds really favor above average temperatures. many of those days. here we go for the next

but you can take a look at this picture posted this morning by the folks at the mount washington auto road. the snow does exist. wmur' s kristen carosa has more on the tourism forecast for the season ahead. to a slow start, tourism officials are projecting a strong winter season, and they are making that announcement as they reopen three seasonal information and welcome centers. like this one in littleton. state and local leaders as well as members of the states tourism industry gathered in littleton at the welcome and information center to announce their tourism forecast for the upcoming months. they say more than 7.5 million people are expected to visit new hampshire this winter season, a 5% increase from last year and their spending is expected to be 7% higher than last year, during the event, state leaders also talked about its winter marketing campaign, which is created to encourage people to come to the state. this year it is called make tracks. tourism officials are encouraging people to enjoy the winter season on their own terms and explore in different ways. three welcome cen
