[ applause ] >> thank you. >> okay, so raise your hands, how many of you would like to be me today? i am so humble and honored, what a great fortune to land my term right on the 150th year because the one thing that i will tell you about being 150 years old if you realize that your time is really short and insignificant, and if i were to dare to count how many port directors there have been before and how many there will be after it will become more of a second time, but, i get to be here with all of you and so many of you who have been here at this water front for decades, all of you from fisherman's wharf thank you for coming today, because of you it is our water front that has evolved ahead of everywhere else in the world this is a perfect place to celebrate. because here we have a little bit of something of everything, in fisherman's wharf. it has been part of the p

wonderful staff and i want to thank my fellow commissioners along with their support and director moyer who showed up at my confirmation hearing and the first time in 15 years it was a breeze, so thank you and i look forward to working with everyone for the next four years. >> and thank you for saying yes. >> okay. public comment on the executive's director report other than all the comments we received already? okay. moving on. >> i want to just add after i listened to everyone today and no offense i think the port staff and i said this many times is among the best in the city and i think really listening today you get that sense from the retirement of an exemplary employee to all of the employees stepping up during the bart strike and going that extra step, almost the extra mile, no pun intended and going the extra level and to director moyer and what she has done and as we talk about the waterfront and the people coming here. i think it's a tribute to the director and staff for all of the work that you do and i want thank you again and reiterate what i say about you behind your backs

i want to commend elaine for t director moyer. i think that the port -- this is the premiere port in the world. this is a world class port. how dare we not have something like this for our community. we should give as good as we get. and i think this is a great starting point for doing this and for those young people. we never know where those young people one day will end up. all sometimes people need is a helping hand, some positive role models and it's just a chance. and, so, i'm clearly in support of this and i know my other commissioners are, too, because we all started somewhere ourselves. and someone along the way gave us an opportunity. so, you clearly have my support. i along with commissioner murphy will come down to see what you're doing. when you came last time, i have to say this, i have never seen you. and i thought, i said, why did he only come this time? i hope you keep coming down to the port because there's one thing you need to know about the port of san francisco. we are a community partner of yours. we're a fr

thank you. >> thank you. >> thank you. >> commissioner adams. >> first of all, director moyer, reallyppreciate your report. and also to the attorney, it' really good the relationship between ilw and the port continues to grow. clearly that's great. not only for the community, but the port. and hopefully with this labor day celebration the community will come out clearly. the port belongs to every citizen of san francisco. i'd like to update my other commissioners. on july 19th, myself and jim malony of mayor [speaker not understood] took supervisor scott wiener, gave him a tour of the harbor. supervisor wiener was really impressed. he had never seen the harbor from the water side looking in. we had about two hours with supervisor scott wiener and clearly he's a big supporter of the port and he said the port is a hidden jewel. it has so much great potential. it's really like a hidden gem down there in the city. and he and the other board of supervisors will continue to support it. on july 21st, i had lunch with three u.s. senators, u.s. senator brian schatz of hawaii, u.s. senators jef
