mr. clinton and mr. obama paid the ransom to north korea and did not secure the hostage, they did not build down or dismantle the capability. this president is faced with far fewer options that are much more grave. that said, i will tell you he's hitting center on one important point. the deterrent is always in the mind of the aggressor or your opponent. if there is one absolute imperative for north korea, that's the survival of the regime. if any of their missiles become florida joke try to potentially threaten american citizens, that the response would be capable of obliterating that regime. if that's clear in their minds, it's a tremendous deterrent. i congratulate the president for that kind of clarity. no matter what kind of words it puts in. even if they are not diplomatic ease. his commitment is very, very, very important. >> i think in that context the president in fact as you well know has made it clear that that threat on his part extend to our allies and our friends in the region. and now we h
