mr. joyce: mr. speaker, at a time when rolling blackouts have become more common and as it has become clear that green energy tools like wind turbines and solar panels cannot meet our energy needs, the biden administration has taken a step to limit the ability of americans to use natural gas in their homes. the weapon niecessation of government this ensures that they need and that they want. currently natural gas stoves are the preferred cooktop appliance of nearly 40% of american homes. we know that natural gas is safe, it's reliable and affordable energy and it's a source for millions of americans. the gas stove protection and freedom act is a step toward getting the federal regulations out of homes and out of businesses. any attempt to say that the biden administration's actions are based in public safety is not supported by the data that we have at hand. according to the national fireprotection association, electric ranges were more than 2 1/2 times likely to cause a home fire than gas stoves. l

mr. good: mr. speaker, i rise today to mourn the tragic loss of winter green police officer mark christopher wagner ii and to honor the legacy that he has left behind. on june 16, 2023, officer wagner responded to a call for help following an assault in the winter green community of nelson county, virginia. he was the first officer to arrive at the scene when he bravely ran into harm's way, as these officers do every day, to apprehend a suspect that would fatally attack him. my prayers are with the family, friends, loved ones of officer wagner as they grieve the loss of his life and process life in his absence. psalm 34 reads, the lord is close to the broken hearted. we grieve this tragic loss and we pray for the peace and comfort that only a lord can provide to officer wagner's family. every day officer wagner was committed to bravely protecting the winter green community. he was ax exceptional -- he was an exceptional example of service, sacrificing giving his life to others. may god bless his fa
