mr. abercrombie: i'm the chairman of the air, land subcommittee and i feel very, very deeply that this amendment put forward in this recommitment motion right now is not made in order in the way we work. the phrases used on the other side of the aisle, there are no sides of the aisle in the air, land subcommittee. every single member of that committee is recognized by this chairman as not only equal in terms of their input, but equal in terms of their commitment to the defense of this country. you folks know me here. this does not -- this kind of thing does not take place in our subcommittee. let me give you -- there is no side of the aisle when it comes to the defense of this nation. just to give you a couple of quick examples, on the stryker vehicle, we have $338 million in there on top of the $200 million-plus we put in the supplemental. we were never given any other number despite any opportunity that anybody could have had to bring that number forward. on the all-terrain vehicles, $4. 45 billion vehicles for 1,000 vehicles, upgrades, retrofit, operation and maintenance. if there's one thing

mr. speaker. i'd like to thank the gentleman for yielding me this time and also i'd like to thank neil abercrombie and the previous speaker for his kind and knowledgeable remarks. and you pronounced his name correctly, too, which is wonderful. thank you. h.res. 479 recognizes the accomplishments of jesse kuhaulua, which is known as takamiyama daigoro, a trail blazer in the sport of sumo wrestling. maui born, jesse made his bay due as an aspirant in 1974 in osaka. at the time he knew little of the japanese language and the subtleties of the sport itself. he wondered if his stay in japan would be counted in weeks or months. today, takamiyama daigoro will retire from a 45-year-long sumo career filled with historic milestones. this marks the day before his 65th birthday when senior members of the sport must retire. takamiyama daigoro was the first united states-born wrestler to enter the sport of sumo. in 1972 he became the first foreigner to win the emperor's cup, a top division championship in the sport. he was also the first foreign-born wrestler to climb to sumo's third highest rank of sakiwaki. h
